Sweating? Perspiring? Perhaps Glowing?

Call it wot-tever you will, but I am all wet and shiny after my morning run.

I don't trot around every day, but do try for every other day. So...I got up at 7AM, tinkled, washed face, donned "togs" and sports bra, and jiggled out of the side gate of the privacy wall then headed up the narrow asphalt road.

I ran, walked, jogged, jiggled, for three miles (round-trip) and here I am, sitting on a towel so as not to sweat all over chair. This A/C, set on 65F, feels goooooooood!

Pretty interesting trip, in that on the return leg I had to stop and jog in place while a nice-sized rattler crossed the path...EEEEEK! I am soooo glad I saw him in time, what with the rather low light. As if that weren't enough, a neighbor happened along in his pickup, from behind, and told me he'd spooked three adult coyotes off the road that he was certain had been tailing ME! More EEEEEK!

We've had a rash of sightings of coyotes as of late and someone reported a big cat (See: Puma, Cougar, Mountain Lion, Onca, etc.) in our little patch of Heaven.

Note to self: No more jogging alone and take pistol!

Now, if you'll 'scuse me, I'm going to hit the pool, shower, and prepare to assault The Cracker Barrel with Ash(leigh), then attack The Rim Shopping Mall, BassProShops, AND the new Dick's Sporting Goods...all in the same area...less gas to burn.

BTW, no fishing today...too darned hot. We'll do more night bassing for a while, but not on lakes that have alligators (add one more EEEEEK!)...such as Choke Canyon.

Last week I tried a route I have not been on in years. It was blocked by snow drifts. Me thinks Yoli should try running there. The rare air would be good for her lungs. I am also sure that gravity at that elevation would be so low that she might not even need a sports bra.

I don't go running, just use olga my russian bike. Just got to take care of snakes when i'am repairing it. Btw we do not have bears or big cat and rattlers, just vipers

Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh my! Where do you live? In the middle of a game preserve?

No tigers, no bears for maybe 150 miles.

You must remember that San Antonio sits pretty much on a dividing line, East/West, North/South, in that to the North we have the beautiful Texiz Hill Country; to the south begins the flatter but rugged Brush County and Coastal Prairies; to the East there are the Oak Prairies that transition into pine forests to the North then swamps and bayous to the South; to the West and far Northwest you get a mixture of the first two then country that looks like Texiz as Hollywood depicted it in the old days plus the mountainous and gorgeous Big Bend Country.

Texiz is a microcosm of many types of terrain, flora, and fauna, to include desert, swamps, prairies, and hills. There are, depending on region, bears, deer (over 4.2 million of them), coyotes (everywhere), mountain lions, foxes, alligators, javelina (AKA Collared Peccary), european strain wild boar, wild feral hogs, cottontail rabbits, jackrabbits (really a hare), squirrels, all four of the venomous snakes found in North America (Rattlers, Copperheads, Cottonmouth Water Moccasins, and Coral Snakes). Then there are the scorpions (one got me a few days ago), tarantulas (good guys, and very docile, you can "pet" them), Brown Recluse and Black Widows, as well as big nasty centipedes.

We also have, especially along the coast, mosquitos so big the FAA requires them to file flight plans. There are a growing number of "killer bees" as well and there have been many fatalities caused by them. All manner of wasps and hornets fill out the menu. Did I mention old Solenopsis Invicta AKA Fire Ants?

As for the coast...sharks, rays, various unpleasant jellyfish, barracuda, etc.

All in all, a Paradise!

Unlike many females I am an avid fishergirl, in both fresh and saltwater, and hunter. I don't shrink from all these hazards. I simply stay alert and armed.

Well, time to check my traps in other forums and the PM box, then prepare for church.

How tame! In the LA Basin area there have had two recent

incidences of a coyote trying to carry off a 2 year old child and

California Black Bears are routinely on TV for lounging in someones

jaccuzzi or traversing their yards. And this is occurring in suburbs.
