Trans health fair to be held in Minneapolis, May 9 - 10

Out of two registrants are welcome. This will be held at South High School in Minneapolis. Dr. Marci Bowers wlll be the keynote speaker. You can register at the Minnesota Transgender Health Coalition web site (http://www.mntranshealth.org/)

Trans Community Health & Wellness Fair

Our 2nd annual Trans Community Health and Wellness Fair will be held on May 9 & 10, 2008!

It is free, with meals provided at no charge (Fri. dinner, Sat. breakfast and lunch), and it's open to everyone.

We strongly prefer that you pre-register (deadline is May 1) so we know how much food we will need.

Please pre-register by April 15 to request special dietary considerations, or to request an ASL interpreter or non-English language interpreter.

We have a fantastic lineup of visiting speakers, top-notch local & visiting presenters, and local trans & GLBTA youth entertainment for the Health Fair!

Keynote by Marci Bowers, M.D.

From Madness to Maternity: seeking gender identity in a dysphoric world

Dr. Marci Bowers will mix anecdote, humor and medical information in her review of gender-related issues. Dr. Bowers is a Gynecologic surgeon currently performing gender-related surgeries in Trinidad, Colorado, and a 1986 graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School.

Additional Special Guests: Loren Schechter, M.D., gender confirmation surgeon from Morton Grove, Illinois, and André Wilson, national expert on transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage (and last year's Keynote Speaker).

Entertainment: TransVoices Chorus will sing two songs to kick off the Health Fair on Friday evening, and Empowered Expressions youth performance troupe will perform at 11:30 a.m. Sat. during lunch. In addition, Andrea Jenkins will share several pieces of her writing with us throughout the weekend.
