What Nolbow is referring to, I believe, is the stuff they 'inject', with a blunt-tip injecter, into your urethra (pee-tube, as my ever-so-helpful doctor insisted on calling it when I had this done) before shoving other things down there.

In my case, the 'other things' were a steel rod with a camera to look for scar-tissue, followed by a catheter.

The stuff they inject is kinda thick, clear, and only somewhat effective at numbing the entire urethra.

The fluid is usually Xylocaine jelly, according to what I can find online.

Hmm... to make them brittle to the point of smashing, would require something like liquid nitrogen... (That was not an advice to use it, results would be probably fatal. But it would make exellent headline).

You may want to look up something called EMLA. It's a creme containing (at least around here) 2.5% lidocaine. Very effective at numbing things.
