I had a blood test yesterday, so I should know my testosterone level by the end of the week...
Also they're rechecking my haemoglobin level which was showing as a little low on my last blood test. This may or may not be a side effect of the meds, as I've been anaemic in the past. But it's something you may want to watch out for - home testing kits are available...

Hmmm interesting. I've not had any kind of blood work done in literally 25 years

can you ask your GP for a general health checkup? I don't want to fork out for 101 different blood tests independently!
Cant wait to find out your t level

you're on 50mg daily right?

Yep, I’ve been on 50mg daily from the start (10th of Feb - where does the time go?!). Can’t wait either, it’ll be very interesting to know my current T level - very low I expect… If my sore nipples are any guide!!
I’m sure you can request a health checkup from your GP, which would probably include a full blood count. Though if they do find anything they’ll probably want to investigate further and you may have to come clean before they send you for lots of tests to find out whats going on..! On the other hand if a problem does show up, it’s probably better that you know.
I’ve just received an email from my NHS shrink advising me that I’m being referred to a more senior shrink on my quest to get a prescription for Androcur and Tamoxifen (or similar) and to be looked after by an endocrinologist…
I wonder how many shrinks I’m going to get through on my journey

- and if I’ll be successful?!

yeah I think I'll ask for a checkup soon (gulp!)
ill also be requesting a referral to a shrink... really scared about that as its total uncharted territory for me and I have no idea what to expect and how it all works >.>

Honestly I think that seeing a shrink is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I was referred by my GP after I broke down when we were discussing my drinking (at the time a bottle of vodka a day) and she asked what’s troubling me - and I told her everything…
Anyway, I got a quick referral and started seeing a therapist a few weeks later (I think it usually takes longer, but I was pretty much suicidal at the time - and the local shop was struggling to keep up with my drinking habit! God only know what would have happened if they’d run out..!)
I was terrified when I went for the first session but now I wonder what I was worried about, and look forward to seeing my therapist who’s really helped me get my head together, stop drinking, and even supports my decision to start self medicating whilst starting the process of referring me to someone who can write a prescription for anti androgens.

Oh I do hope so!
But I mustn’t get too excited just yet as I think that I’m seeing the more senior shrink only for her to then refer me on to the gender identity clinic in London. Only for me to then see yet another shrink who can refer me to an endocrinologist… Who hopefully won’t have to refer me to another endocrinologist as by then I may have forgotten what it was I wanted in the first place!
The NHS can be a little bureaucratic at times..!
But it’s free so I’m not complaining, and if it doesn’t work out for me then I’ll just have another go through the private system.

This is great. And taking Androcur seems to have been a key element of your recovery. I've had fewer psychological problems to deal with but have also benefited tremendously by experience how my mind changed for the better on Androcur.

Yes I think that I just needed to get the testosterone out of my system to feel normal and start enjoying life. Oh how I wish that it had never been there in the first place… But unfortunately you can’t change the past, so I’m just enjoying the moment and looking forward to what the future might bring.
My biggest fear is being derailed by some side effect, but hopefully I’ll soon have an endocrinologist to look after me and manage things properly.
I’m just about to pop into town to see if my blood test results are back…
