I am so sorry that I missed this MOM. You know how much I value the MOM's and all the great people that attend them.

Hope we have added some more great people to the MOM club.

It was a great MoM. As many of you know, we had planned to start on Friday and run through Sunday, then because of low attendance we cut it back to just two days. What many of you may not know is that we actually wound up starting on Friday after all.

After receiving an email from Jesus that three people were coming up on Friday to set up camp before sunset, and that they would be having breakfast in downtown Healdsburg I decided to come up early as well.

It was a nice drive up to Healdsburg with a passenger to keep me company. We got to the property just before sunset and made camp. I will admit that I wimped out slightly and chose to set up my tent on the deck and not on the lawn... Everyone was sure the deck was too hard and I would have a better nights sleep on the lawn.

The local wether forecast was perfect and there was no need to put up the rain fly on the tent. I woke up a few times and regretted not bringing along the air mattress as the deck was a bit hard, and I contemplated moving my tent over to the lawn. Then about 5 AM there was a sound.... SPRINKLERS 🙋 :D In the morning some of the camper's thing were a little damp but after some coffee all was right with the world. Fortunately the sprinklers only come on once a week so the next night should be fine... 😄 🆘

I have to say no ones spirits were dampened all that much. We all had a very good time, and enjoyed each other's company and some of the local wine, including some very rare pinot noir on tap at our campsite.

I am sorry more people could not make it to this years West Coast MoM 2.0 If it was because of the economy I hope things will be better next year and that you can all come and have a great time. If it was because of the sleeping outside in the weather, I am pretty sure they will get that sprinkler thing worked out by next year and hopefully some additional accommodations. I have to say that even with the artificial rain it was a very fine MoM indeed.

While it was a small MoM, with only seven of us (plus dogs), I think that everyone had a good time. I'm sure that Stevenoo's two large black dogs enjoyed finding the swimming hole down at the creek....

For the most part, we sat around eating, drinking and talking. Some of us went on a wine tasting expedition to a couple of the nearby wineries. The weather was a bit cooler than normal for the season, but still pleasant for sitting out on the deck and looking at the scenery.

I know that I'll be making plans to see some of the group again soon, since they live nearby and were great fun to talk with.

Next up is the Midwest MoM near Minneapolis on August 5–8.

Following that will be an evening gathering in London (http://www.eunuch.org/vbulletin/showthr ... 080&page=3) on Sunday, August 22nd.

There's time for you to make plans to attend one (or both) of them!

I suppose my lack of attendance could be related to the economy. I'm in retraining now, because since I moved back to California I've found finding an adequate job difficult. So, off to retrain I went, and that's taking up all my free time. *ugh*

I'm glad to hear that those who attended had a good time.

Perhaps I can get to the next one. I'd like to meet you all.

Thank you Jesus for hosting the MOM at your vineyard. It was so nice to camp on the lawn, talk with new friends, enjoy delicious meals and just hang around. Thanks for accepting or tolerating my dogs. It seems they fit in with the others there, except for the cats. I do hope the cats came out from hiding after we left. And thanks to your daughter for her hosting efforts and to her son for playing ball and being a neat kid. You were quite a gracious and generous host. Thank you, Steve
