There have been electricity outages,
I cannot remember one Natural Gas outage.
I am sure there can always be a catastrophe of some magnitude that kills Natural Gas service.
I just have not witnessed one. Has anyone?

Yes actually the Loma Prieta earthquake, broke gas lines in Modesto where I lived, they also broke in Oakland, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, and the line going to my friends house, but that was not a big problem as it was 10' off the foundation.
Earthquakes in LA have also broken gas lines its common with earthquakes.
Moi, lives in earthquake country, surprised he did not know this.
Things to do right after an Earthquake, turn off your gas. Moi, its right there in the manual.

Daylight saving time ends for another year and not a day to soon. I get up early in the morning and not having the sun come up until 8am is a little dis-concerning, I hate that the sun will be gone by 5pm but its worse then not having it come up by 8am.
Now over the next two months our daylight will dwindle to about 8 hours a day.
Now to turn back all the clocks.

It is that Wonderful Time of Autumn, Octember.
The liquid Amber are taking their time dropping their leaves, first going for a colorful display.
The Desert by the Sea was 87 today and they say the same tomorrow. Then, in typical form
the temperature is going to drop twenty degrees by Friturday with a distant threat of rain.
This really is my favorite time of year.
And it gets dark at night time too.
Bought some garlic and white onions from Home Depot. They will sit in the wine cooler
for a few weeks. Botanicals seem to have a sense of photoperiodocity and not just temperature, moisture and such.

Hey Dave and Bob3 Ex-BFF
Another storm is a comin'.
They say it is a Nor'ester but, I think it is just an ole fashioned cold jet stream
Looping down the Midwest then up the Atlantic coast starting with storms in Florida
on Tuesday. That is gonna hurt the Blue vote turn out.
The storm is scheduled to hit the Liberal northeast on Wednesday.
No doubt a sign of the Christian God's displeasure.
La-La land continues to be warm, 80 with still dry air, a bluey sun light and sunset when it should be.
Over the next four days temperature is scheduled to drop 15-20 degrees with possible light rain over the w'end.
Harvested some carrots and sweet peppers. Finished planting the third of three different hot, hot, hot peppers.
Moi in Paradise
Just checked, the official temp was 90, but it is often cooler on by bluff then seaside O.C.
By Friday the high is predicted for 60. That is a 30% drop in temperature. I think.

The Nor'ester is striking those Blue States in the North East.
Anyone feeling it?
Pleasant and cooling toward a threat of rain in a few days.

NBC News reports the sand berm will be twice as high but, half as wide then last time.
Brings out the kid in me wanting to see which sand berm design worked better.
Well we know twice as wide, half as high did not work.
I wonder how old their berm architect are? Too old probably.

All I see here is a wet snow (2-3 inches) and wind gusts. Not a night for a walk, but I'll be OK. The tens of thousands left homeless (40,000 in NYC alone) or powerless by Sandy (where's that baying pack of journalists who blamed the aftereffects of Katrina on Bush?) may be much worse off now. Tomorrow's news reports will tell.

How is the weather there in Nor'ester Land?
A lite drizzle last nite with hardly a millimeter of accumulation.
Broken clouds giving way to high gray clouds and more drizzle.
Needless to say California drivers are. . . Yup!
The first rain raises oils in the road to the road surface.
It is more then just the wet. It is a lite grease on the road for
the first thorough rain or two.
Really nice climate.
The night is nice and dark but, now too quickly.
I do wish for a gentler time transition, like mid October.

The <doom> Federal <Darth Vadar Breath sounds> Weather mavins
say we are in for a return to a light dry Santa Ana condition and then another drizzle.
The "Perfect" Autumn of the area. And we were 90F a week ago. Now a high of 65F. Yea!

The sun is shining. The roads are clear. The temperature is a seasonable 50 degrees.
But the effects of Sandy are still being felt. Many are still without electricity, and many more lost everything to floods. The ballyhooed government aid has yet to reach many people who are cold and hungry.

I have seen the same thing on the news, Aid needs to be given and it should have happened yesterday, my heart goes out to our neighbors on the east coast. I don't know how to make it work faster, I don't know if it can, I do know where ever one of these things happen it takes a month for things to get into place and that might be OK in California where its 70deg but its unacceptable on the east coast in the snow and rain.
