Today has been a riot so far.

I called Verizon to tell them to disconnect me from Verizon internet but there was so much static on my line I could barely hear what the technician was saying. They said, in barely understanderable words, call us from another phone.

Now I get to walk over to the grocery store, call Verizon and tell them (1) to disconect me from their internet (2) HELP, I NEED PHONE REPAIR. lol.

My normal phone bill is about $70 a month (counting Internet). However, since I had called Talula on March 16, there was a long distance charge of $35.00 for our 9 minute chat at night. Doesn't that seem a tad high?

This month's bill is $166.69 and includes $26 for Voicemail. I never ordered voicemail and I don't even know what it is. There was even a charge for United Tel Hehellomail Monthly Service Fee of $29.90. I don't know what this is either.

They'll be lucky if they get $100 out of me this month considering property tax is due this month too.

Ya think I need a new phone company?

Postscript: I tried to access Verizon online to get phone repair and disconnection of internet but it won't recognize me as I don't have a back-up phone number and or it doesn't like iMac computers. It kept asking for my Verizon "pin number." I don't have one and never did.

Screw the phone company and cut the wires. I went to Vonage several years ago and am more then happy. It is a Voice Over IP. You use your high speed internet connection to make your phone calls. For little over $30.00 a month I get unlimited calls including Canada. That is with all the added extra fees and taxes. Your area may be a little different but will be far less the the phone company. Comes with all kinds of extras voice mail, caller ID, and the list goes on. Road Runner also has some plans that could also be cheaper in your area but watch what is included in their packages for some services are limited in there lower cost plans.

Two hour talk to Talula will cost you $0.00. Day chat with IE will be the very high price of $0.00 in Canadian or US monies.

Verizon is due tomorrow to fix my phone between 9:00am and 7:00pm which means I have to be home all day and eat my own cooking all day: that is cruel and unusual punishment.

When I tried to get their internet office, I was put on hold for 17 minutes and charged $1.35. I hung up and decided I'd call Tuesday in the comfort of my home for free.

Tuesday I'll give Vonage a call too.

Go through the neighbor hood and offer to dog watch 3 or 4 large male dogs then when they get there to fix your phone spray them with some female dog Urine in heat then let the dogs have their way with them

The Verizon phone repair guy was here at 9:00am sharp, fixed the problem and didn't charge me anything

Now I have a working phone to call the bus company to see what bus I take to get to visit mom at the nursing home tomorrow.

I called Verizon and (1) had them disconnect me from their internet. (2) they also took off that United Tel Heliomail Service Fee and won't bill me again for it. (3) I had them cancel the Residential Voice Mail which I didn't order. Or if I did order it I was insane at the time.

Those calls reduced my bill from $166 to $110...much, much better.

In 90 minutes I go to catch a bus to take me approx six miles east to mom's nursing home to discuss her condition, if the tummy tube has to stay in, how do I keep her from pulling it out (without tying her up) and when can I take her home.

Hopefully I can get a return ride from the bus coming back my way.

I go back to the nursing home next Tuesday to learn how to feed mom and give her meds via the feeding tube in her stomache. Sounds fun huh?

It will be a LOT easier than feeding her by mouth. Make sure that they tell you how to care for the feeding tube and keep it clean.

Usually, these tubes are used because the swallowing mechanism becomes confused and the patient ends up getting food what most would call "down the wrong tube" and into the lungs. Of course, the normal response to this is to choke, cough until you are red in the face and to talk funny for a while. However, in people with swallowing problems this does not happen or does not happen with enough force to cough the stuff up out of the lungs. Expect to find the tube through her abdomen wall. You will have to pull her clothes back to use it.

It this continues the food and liquids in the lungs cause the growth of infections in the normally sterile lung and the lung tissue ends up being destroyed.

So, if they do not want her eating by mouth then do not feed her by mouth. IT is O.K. to clean out her mouth but anything else, especially THIN liquids such as water or coffee can end up in the lungs and cause infections that can be fatal.

Be sure to keep some Coca Cola on hand for if/when the tube gets clogged and make sure they show you how to clear it if that happens.
