It is a shame that Amazon never got permission for the drone delivery methods.

They could fly in groceries from the local supermarket.

Somehow, I think that the Civil Defense and Air Traffic Control people would be a little bent out of shape with dozens of those things flying around.

I am glad I stocked up on food, I am good for a month.

"BigIslandVideoNews" is the place to watch.

AND NO MOI, they are not riots in the street, but people are checking on each other to make sure they are OK.

RiverLava DEAR

The shortages haven't hit home, yet !

I imagine the classic suburban riot scene from Twilight Zone or one of many from South Park.

What shortages? Moi, Hawai'i must ship everything in, its a well oiled system. The minor issue of a road being covered is just an inconvenience that you must now drive a bit further but they have already completed two of three new roads out of the area and the third is reopening the old road that was covered in lava 30 years ago and its going in the other direction from the lava flow. This is the frontier and one thing they know how to do is blaze a new road, right through old lava flows. This is not new technology that must be learned, they do it every day.

So Moi, you can stop now your starting to sound like a republican. (the sky is falling and such).

Do YOU have See's Candy. They have a seasonal "Pumpkin Spice" buttercream that is really, really, good.

You can taste the pumpkin and not overpowered with cinnamon and nutmeg. πŸ‘…

Two things:

1) Pumpkin spice MRE's are being made available at the commissaries

2) According to the civil authorities in Hawaii, before the lava hits the road, they will break open the road to make a path. Now why are they doing this. First off, like all good roads, it is slightly raised above the ground around it for drainage during heavy rains. When you build a road, you make it higher than the land around so the water flows off and drains away. That way the cars don;t drive through deep puddles like happens in underpasses. Second, the authorities hope this keeps the lava to a narrower path than spread up and over the road. This will make running electric lines over the lava flow and possible rebuilding the road easier when the lava stops and hardens and cools.

it's rather a unique and interesting event in the life of a road.

No we don't have a See's candy story here that I know of, even if we did I would not eat any, (sugar). I remember butter creams with delight but they like all things made with sugar as the first three ingredients are no longer on my diet. Its funny after you stop eating sugar and start eating other foods that are healthy like a big salad, you would rather have the greens then the whites.

As for the lava flow, the dump will close today and may never be open again, the fire and police have split up and are setting up a fire and police station south of the flow so they are covered on both sides. The Mayor of Hawai'i (I triathlete, we are so proud of him) is a hands on Mayor and from this area, its good to have the boss fighting for you, Now its the wait game, the lava is on the move, making its way to the ocean, those in her way will need to move.

Dave is right about the road, that has been on the books for a couple months now, that when the time comes which could be in a few days, they will cut the road, and open up the path so the lava can flow through the gap not over the road. After the lava stops they will blast out the lava and rebuild the road.

Did you know that the lava builds its own lava tubes, this is what its been doing, building. Now that its done building its time to flow.

I love this place and can not think of anyplace I would rather be, except maybe the south of Thailand. Yes I would move there, still might.

The first Yahoo News story

Red Hot Lava Flow Edging Toward Hawaiian Town

And that town ? " . . . the lavaΒ’s progress, which is steadily encroaching on the small town of Pahoa "

I do not hold it against YOU that your have not announced to us your ammo stores.

After all, RiverLava is retired military.

Time to watch, "Firebase Gloria". http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098328/

Take care.

WHAT! Moi, I don't think shooting at the lava flow will stop it. Just saying.

Are you watching Firebase Gloria.

Imagine the hordes of "Have Nots"

surrounding the "Haves" (You and your military buddies "have" ;)

What do you think?

Firebase Gloria ?

Or something closer to Chosin.

BTW - because I am thin, I admire the 38. Especially the 5 capacity barrel.

I like the revolver for its' simplicity and reliability and not to be the first one to have one jam.

My concern about the 38 is the lack of stopping power with one core hit. What do you think?

I mean we know why the 45 was developed.

Well I am old fashion. I like the Winchester rifle too. Aim and fire. Don't spray unless you have an AK-47.

Agree?

No, No, No πŸ™…

I do not believe firing into the lava will deter it one bit, anymore than it might a Golem.

I believe first some good quality, Hawai'ian weed should be offered to Pele and if that doesn't satiate her,

a nearby old eunuch if she is anything like Yoli πŸͺ†

Pull the curtains. Block the angry orange glow as it grows ever brighter with the advancing tendrils of Pele.

Sleep tight. Don't let the bed bugs bite. I hear Hawai'i got big'uns.

Hawaii officials warn of possible lava evacuation

More news at 11.

Lava of some 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit crossed a road on the edge of Pahoa, the largest town in the mostly rural region of Puna on the Big Island of Hawaii, at 3:50 a.m.

It was about six-tenths of a mile from Pahoa Village Road, the town's main street.

If the reader did not know, Pahoa is RiverLava's Hawai'ian home town.

"What, Me Worry"
