I have a fruit and vegetable smoothie in the morning and a thick vegetable soup at night, substituting a cut of broiled salmon for the soup two or three nights a week. I'm at the lowest weight I've been in 40 years, and my blood pressure was 120/77 this morning, all without exercise. I used to take BP medicine but don't now. My one sin is an occasional mocha, but I'm cutting down on them, and I've cut out the pastries altogether.

My fruit smoothie, made in a Vitamix blender has spinach, kale, cabbage, an avocado, grapes, an orange, pineapple, cashew nuts, banana, and cherries, when I can get them. The soup, also made in the blender, is pretty well made with the same ingredients, just with more vegetables and less fruit. The blender has a hot soup setting and will actually heat the soup.

Moi has advised not drinking fruit smoothies and blending vegetables, and he had me worried at first, but I'm finding, just as he is wrong about everything else, Moi was wrong about this, too. I've never felt better, my weight and blood pressure are down, and people tell me how young I look.

The Vitamix Blender is expensive, but I love it. I wish I'd bought it years ago, when I first saw it demonstrated at Costco. It will liquify any fruit or vegetable. You don't throw anything away. It even liqufies the seeds.

I add protein powder to mine.

My loss has stopped dead in its tracks. I got down to 226 from 250 (I want 185 or so) and for the last 3 weeks I've been playing yo-yo between 226 and 229. I'm watching what I'm eating, keeping track of calories, etc.

Very frustrating.

I'm 2 pounds from my next goal, and I can't seem to get there. The trip to Florida is going to make this extremely difficult. *sigh*

Ive heard of the vitamix blender. Definetly really cool. I'm debating this or the nutri-bullet. Question Slammr, can I find replacement blades for the vitamix? Thats my problem. Nutribullet has really cheap replacement blades on ebay.If I can't find replacement blades for the vitamix it's a no go for me.

But all in all, blending fruits and veggies is smart bc we humans can't digest plants very well. We can't break the outer cell wall barrier or "cellulose" from plants.

Herbivores such as cows can bc they have better molars to chew and they possess 4 stomachs.

I know just how you feel, I got down to 252, felt good about myself, fell off the diet one day and gained back 8 lbs, it took me a week to take it back off, NOT FARE. I am still on my 5 meals a day diet, and its working as long as I workout too. but I am hungry all the time. *sigh*

I'll keep working at it, but it is very frustrating. I was hoping to have at least 35 off by now. *shrugs*

For me it's been challenges. Things like our local gay men's group saying, "Hey, come have dinner with us" or going to the amusement park last Friday where the food options do not allow you to stay on plan. I do try to stay reasonable when those things happen but the salt and calorie intake is usually way to high even with minimal intake. The foods at these events are usually very calorie dense with little to satisfy. I will say I'm 1.5 pounds up instead of 3 like I was on Sunday, so it's coming off.

I was hoping to be no more than 220 when I go to Florida next week, but that isn't likely to happen, but perhaps I can get to my second weight loss goal by then (224) which would represent a 10% total body weight loss to that point.

The blender, including the container, comes with a 7 year warranty. You can change the container but not the blades. Unless you accidentally drop a spoon on something into the blender, I can't imagine you would need to change them. If past the warranty, you could purchase a new container.
