GOOD NEWS:

The new printer is all hooked up, works perfectly and prints three times as fast as my old Lexmark :)

BAD NEWS:

Why does it take only a few steps to uninstall a dead unhooked printer and so many *%$#@*#@ steps to install a new with a CD disc?

Oh well, it works and I am a happy wolfie :)

Mac--

It's understandable if you think it's dangerous to ride a bicycle, but someone riding a bike can travel at least three times as fast as you can zum Fuss, and you get a lot less tired. I'm not familiar with your part of the San Bernardino area, but I don't remember San Bernardino itself as being hilly--not true, of course, after you get over to Loma Linda and adjacent areas.

Haven't priced bicycles for a while, and haven't ridden on one for quite a while, but I would guess you could get a used one for $50 or less. Of course, the helmet, the tire pump, the tire repair kit, etc. would add a little to the cost of biking. It's possible you could get a bike for free, if you have a neighbor whose kid just got a driver's license.

Don't forget the gloves and water bottle, you may need to get the bracket to hold the water battle, small tool kit, reflector stripes to put on that jacket, head and tail lights for safety of course, then you need foot ware, and I guess you need to go to a sports shop and get the proper cloths for biking. add another OH $500. But you will look good biking around San Bardo.

Maybe a better idea would be a Ural, its a WWII stile Russian now American made Motor bike with side car so you can take mom along.

Well anything to help a friend...... besides I have not posted to this the longest thread in months,

Computer works great.

TV and VCR work great

Printer works great.

Cat and dog are great.

Mom's been a bitch all day. First time in a while she's been so crabby so I suppose I've been lucky.

I know, I'll offer to trade mom for Rupert :)

good luck

River

A couple weeks ago gem bought a tree for his cat Sam. Rupert likes to visit Sam and the two of them have had a ball with this tree, so today I got one for Rupert. I pulled it all out of the box and he started clawing it and mowing at me. I speak cat or is it Rupert but he was saying hurry up and build it daddy, I want to play, hurry, hurry. He loves it and told me so. Cats are neat, my kind of people.

Sounds like you're doing better than usual. I just had my apartment burn down with all my stuff, so I'm a little frazzled and depressed.

Sounds like you're held together with stronger glue than I am. If I had lost my apartment/house with all my tapes, books, appliances, I'd be looking for a handgun to end my existence.

You, on the otherhand, sound like a fighter and a survivor. I'd send you dollars if I had any. I wish you well trying to put your life back together. Starting from scratch has to be heart rendering. You share that conditions with hundreds of people in the mountains above me who lost everything to the recent brushfires.

I hope you had insurance. (I have none)

Good luck. I wish I had better advice to give you.

No, no insurance. Nothing was really replaceable anyway: I mean the furniture I don't care about; it was all my souvenirs that are gone, and I'm to the age where I realize my past is more impressive than my future is going to be. I got some of my stuff out of there, not much but it was a thrill getting anything at all. I'm pretty much over being angry and upset, but it sneaks back up on me from time to time. Then I just have to recite "They're just THINGS, they're just THINGS."
