That's the only time of day that the entire world will be experiencing December 21st at the same time - during that particular 1-hour period. Any other time and the calendar will have two different dates on it at least in some portion of the world.

Frankly, I think the Mayans sacrificed their last stone carver/mason, and simply didn't have the labor on hand to create a calendar further into the future. That or the Europeans who invaded gave 'em all syphilis and they went crazy.

But what if the Mayans believed that the International Date Line was in the Atlantic Ocean rather than the Pacific Ocean?

Then this Mayan Apocolyptic End-Of-The-World Tour would start in Greenland and move to Brazil where then it would cover Newfoundland, the Guyanas, Leeward Islands and proceed west to throughout all the Americas and on to the Polynesian Islands and Beringia whereupon this impending apocolypse would spend a great deal of time in eastern Siberia before taking on Japan. But the Japanese are very good at handling apocolypses so it won't effect them at all. In fact the apocolypse will be entirely turned back by the Japanese so I guess the world won't end afterall. So most of Asia, then Africa and Europe won't feel any effect at all and all the peoples of the Americas shall recover from hangovers the next morning.

THANK YOU JAPAN ! ! !

Well, tomorrow is the 21st and I plan to make Spaghetti and Meatballs and not eat it --

WHY (you ask)

Because on Christmas Eve, my family will eat all fish and since I am allergic to fish and would like to spend the night in bed rather than hunched over the porcelain toi-toi ... I will eat my their pasta with my red sauce and meatballs. That will make life easier on my Niece who is cooking the fish.

Notice, the Mayan Calendar does not figure into those plans. The MAyan gods have been superseded by new gods and new religions with their own apocalyptic crapola to scare people.

Good Yule to you! I'm going to a party, have no idea what we'll be eating. But we'll celebrate the continuation of the world, for now.
