I'm staying at the hampton inn about 10 minutes down the road from the office. I'm checking in friday and checking out Sunday afternoon or evening at the latest. I have a test on Monday at 11 AM 850 miles away from detroit so I'm really pushing it lol.
I've done worse though. I've played in a 1300 player paintball game with a hangover. I was told through email that it was entrance C.

Thank god the hotel has computers I can use, the wifi's dead but wired internet access is working like a charm.
I strongly recommend Dr Arnkoff for the surgery. I was nervous as hell half-expecting a cutter-like experience based on a lot of the stories of actual surgeries I've read in my time lurking here (Better than a year and a half believe it or not.) He's a total pro, completely non-judgemental, though he didn't get why a lot of us are nervous (I explained to him about how for the longest time our only percieved option was hiring a cutter or self mutilation) He will ask you to buy some topical anaesthetic cream, don't worry it's not the only anesthesia he'll use. He'll give you a local but the needles will be going through scrotal skin, and the cream helps. I already forget the brand name but one I found in the antiseptic section at the walgreens next door was 2.5% lidocane and it worked great. The incision was through the center of the scrotum in my case (I'm assuming that this method is his standard.) Surgery time was maybe forty five minutes to an hour.
When you get out of surgery and head to pick up your prescriptions I suggest picking up gauze pads and an ice bag-style pack. The ice bags are easier to cover the entire area with than the gel-packs and you don't need to worry about having a refrigerator in your room. Also make sure to specifically request a room close to the ice machines (You have no idea how glad I am that I did so.) The gauze pads obviously are so you have more than one dressing to work with. With relatives in the medical field I'm fairly obsessive about having clean dressings applied regularly and there's reasoning behind that.
If this posting is indecipherable I apologize. I'm posting from vicodinland right now

I'm wondering about nervousness prior to surgery it'd be more like excitement.

You've described a perfect surgeon's orchiectomy. It's very good to hear that Dr. Arnkoff is now providing this service to the community.
p.s.: Your post was totally understandable. You're doing well, considering the Vicodin.

Congrats. Now just take it easy going home. Your description of the experience is similar to a friend that was also done by Dr A. He is clearly the go to doc, and I am saving up to visit him in Jan. Keep us updated on your recoup

Home now. Long ass drive with no vicodin and half the way no nicotine because it's as dangerous to refill an e-cigarette while driving as is texting while driving. The hemorrhoid donuts are the way to go. They take all the shock out of the bumps on the road, and the bumps on the road are considerable.
I also forgot to mention, detroit's traffic patterns are f*(ked. Badly. If/when you go be very careful. Some of the streets in the area are 50 MPH zones when equivalent traffic patterns in other cities are 30 MPH zones. If you're not confident in your driving abilities have someone else do it. I was more nervous driving to the office than I was about the surgery itself.
And for someone in the know, I know bruising is normal but what about blood blisters on the shaft of the penis? (NM I figured that one out. The jock strap was rubbing on it pretty bad, I left my penis through the access hole they cut in the jock strap until the wound sealed itself just to make sure I didn't get any urine in the incision. The thing rode up without me noticing and rubbed pretty badly.)

If you have Steri-Strips holding your incisions together (over the sutures) they should fall/peel off after two or three showers. Dissolvable sutures usually stay in place from seven to ten days, and you'll probably feel things "waking up" from all the local anesthesia during the first two weeks. At least, that describes my recent experience with Dr. Reed's work. It was strange, feeling occasional tingles from the end of the cords two-to-three weeks after the surgery. The good news is, after the first two or three days of initial healing, you should be able to do almost anything necessary around the house and in the yard, provided it doesn't include heavy lifting or straining. Please keep us informed of your recovery. The more information we share, the better it is for everyone else who's interested.

yeah I'm now about fifty hours post op, the sutured incision (Dissolvable sutures, no steristrips on me.) is finally reducing in swelling and I can actually feel my empty bag now, which is a complete trip. The incision is fully closed over but I'm going to keep a dressing on just in case today. I would love to get this air conditioner out of my window today but it's freaking heavy so I gotta put up with it for a couple more days. With all the bruising it hurts a lot more to look at the surgery site than it actually hurts feeling it.

Congrats!! Have you written down any of your thoughts post castration? Mental changes or things that you had not anticipated?
