Well I'm going to have a problem. I've only got one kidney and my doctor told me to say away from calcium supplements. Kidney stones, back new if the shut down your only kidney.
But I'm taking Magnesium, and I'm going to start taking vitamin D. Along with boold test now and then. Oh the the bone scan.
You can do OK, likely, by using foods that are higher in natural calcium, using vitamin D (get in the sun), a little magnesium and maybe zinc. You should be OK. Just watch for the Osteo - get a scan.

Gary,
Your doctor is correct, of course. Calcium supplements can cause kidney stones. As Kristoff states, this is not a problem for calcium found naturally in food.
I've got two kidneys but believe me, I'd like to avoid those painful kidney stones, if possible. So, I try to use the supplements as little as possible while getting my calcium from things like milk. That's got something like 300 mg per 8 ounce serving. That's about 1/5 of what I now need in a day. Not bad!

thanks guys, Oh, I do take zinc and copper, a leftover from taking testosterone. I got them, so I still take them. Probable don't need the copper anymore. Do you guys know anything about vitamin D. As in, is their a preferred form or way it's made over another?
Love Gary

Preferred form is always the naturally produced form - let your body make it - get out in the sunshine. Best way.

The problem is that at this time of the year, the northern half of the country (which includes Gary's location near Portand) does not get enough sunlight, even on sunny days, for your body to make sufficient vitamin D. If you can drink vitamin D fortified milk, and nearly all of it is fortified, this is a good thing for these short winter days.

SAD lights also work wonders for this and for depression as well

I wanted to say that the lights ARE good for the winter blues. And my Doctor has me taking 1000mg of Calcium and extra Vit D and I don't have Osteo yet... If your juggling hormones its just a good thing to do.
All vitamines are not made the same btw. Some stuff is truly junk. I wish I could tell which is better then others...
