Although I knew about castration from a very young age, I never had a drive to do it.
This all changed when I turned 15, I am a deep conservative by that time who makes fun and stuff of transgendered people on YouTube and I happened to scroll past a CNN video. The video I think was titled, "transgender boy got chemically-castrated 2 years ago with puberty blockers", I decided to click on it, this decision changed my life.
The kid, who was now my age, looked so cute and sweet, my heart fuelled with jealousy and envy for his tesosterone levels.
So I did my share of research and ended up on this board.
I also think my love of anime added fuel to the urge of getting castrated. All the anime characters I knew of were really cute and neotenous, like they were castrated or never had testosterone.

I have been aware of castration as long as I can remember growing up on the ranch.

Holy necro, Batman!
But since the thread was revived: I knew about the idea since I started singing in (non-religious) choir and noticed boys' voices starting to change. This lead to questions about why they're changing and how it could be stopped, and learning about castrati. Of course they were always spoken of with a "but of course we don't practice such barbarity anymore" at the end, but I never saw it as barbaric. Today, I would even call the procedure a gift - one I never recieved. I recall secretly wanting to be castrated then, but didn't have the guts to tell anyone or just do it myself. A decision I'll likely regret forever.
Have to agree with creepercast888 that anime may not have been the cause of my wanting castration, but certainly contributed to a picture in my mind of how a man should look, and it wasn't a picture full of body- and facial hair. Once I read about and studied several ancient cultures (Roman, Egyptian, to an extent Greek) which abhored body hair and did their best to be rid of it, not to mention had entire eunuch social classes, I also lost any sense that I was abnormal for wanting to be that way - I was just born to the wrong culture in the wrong age.

I was a choir boy from age 7 at a choir school. I saw older boys who were soloists and generally beautiful singers, lose their voices and become Alto or Tenors. I remember thinking why did this horrible thing happen! Why didnt they just keep their treble voice? I remember being told about puberty and breaking voices and that it would happen to us all. I think I was about 10 when we visited the Cathedral at Montserrat in Spain. Thats when we were told about how boys were castrated there so they kept their voices, but the church had banned it a long time ago. I was incredulous! It sounded like the perfect solution! I asked my choir master about it, but he just said it was something that was not allowed, and it wasnt good for boys to be castrated, and i should just enjoy my voice while i had it.

I'm just wondering why they told you about castrated singers at such a young age. Was it to trigger interest in your own castration ?

At 12 y.o. I knew that farm animal were castrated but I didn't know that was ever done to men. When I started to fantasize about castration at 15 y.o., I thought I was the only man on earth with such desire.

Probably not until I was 10 or 11. My initial interest was enjoying CBT and making up fantasies about dominating females controlling and subjugating males to their wishes. This has resulted in fantasy castration interests and chemical (Androcur) experiements

About the time when puberty sort of happened (12-13) and I wanted those uncomfortable annoying boy parts gone and be totally smooth down there. Since there wasn't an internet back in the mid-70's, so there really wasn't a place to find information, places or others who feel the some the same way as you. It was when I got a computer and came across site like the Eunuch Archives, that it really clicked. I wished that I was born around 2000 than 1960, it would have saved me 40 plus years of grief.

Since puberty hit me I wish to be castrated. It was always a part of me that I want to be neutered.

When I was about 14 yo it happened that in my region a boy was sexualy abused and and killed in the woods.
I remember very well the coversation at home between my parents and two of their friends. The friends thought the perpetrator had to get castrated. My parents were against an involuntayry castration, the perpetrator needed a judicial punishment and psychiatric help.
To me the signal of my parents words was that castration was not to be seen as an involuntary punishment.
At that age as a former choir boy and admirer of a certain boy singer, castration could also be seen as something with at least a possitive side.
Considering that I went skinny dipping at that age in a lake in the woods and a that a forest ranger saw me and warned me for people with bad intentions, some in my life came together at that age.
As an adult and a member of a naturist club, I met a guy who was also skinny dipping and dancing naked in the woods at that age and in the same region. He was so unlucky that a man stole his hidden clothes, which he could get back 'under certain conditions'.
What I did was not without danger.
