Speaking of cats, One of the things I miss most about the decline of used bookstores in this 21st century Amazon world, is the accompanying loss of the traditional used bookstore cats. I have spent a lot of pleasant afternoons curled up in the corner of local used bookstores, browsing used books and petting the bookstore cats. Several of them became neighborhood celebrities, and at least one got an obituary in the local paper when he died.

The Savannah Cat lead to a Norwegian Forest Cat video with a great John Barry piece I've never heard before. I couldn't resist buying the whole album and sent a gift copy to my mom, who dearly loves cats and really enjoys playing the Cello.

Rusty, you are welcome...

Would you mind posting the address of the Forest Cat piece? I must have missed that one...

🙏

Old Fat Black :kittygray is averaging one mouse or baby rat a day, that I know about.

Hope the coyote doesn't average her.

When I moved to this place we had moles, thousands of them or at least it seamed so, it took a couple years but Rupert has cleared them out and gained a pound or so in the process. He has also brought me birds, bunnies, squirrels, and one day he almost got a wild turkey.

But the last couple weeks in the house he could not catch that damn mouse, but I got him with a trap and some peanut butter.

Yes, here it is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4g0-fSOv ... re=related

John Barry - The English Chamber Orchestra - The Day the Earth Fell Silent on the album The Beyondness of Things.

John Barry did the soundtrack on the movie Dances with Wolves.

My cat passed away in 1998. He resembled a Norwegian Forest Cat and weighed in at 18 pounds. He was a real sweetie too.

See #54

Old fat black :kittygray eats a small b'fast as to leave food, out into the yard, out of the yard and soon to reappear with her rodent. After the fresh meat she finishes her breakfast. I measure her food. How do I ration rodents to old fat black :kittygray?

:)

There is this Orange kitty I have written of before. He appeared in the neighborhood over three years ago and was breaking into houses where dog or cat food was kept. Somehow I managed to work out a sunset rendez vous with the Orange Kitty and feed him as much as he'll take until he leaves his bed I made in the bushes.

A real scardy kitty and I have never been able to get within twelve feet.

Something weird yesterday. Walked up the center walkway rather then skulking through protective bushes and came near me as I was placing the food dish. I even got to touch him a moment but mostly let him eat and respected his space. After a while I got up and left him alone with his food.

Today, he was vocal for the first time. I did not know he had a voice. He did the kitty flirtation stretch on his back, and the 'I'm so relaxed I think I'll wash myself now' act, and I got in a few whole minutes of petting time. This sudden domestication has really been amazing. I did not expect Orange Kitty to ever be social.

I tell people I am a cat whisperer. Cats will say a lot if you only know how to "cat listen". Such as the walk by tap of the tail against your leg. The cat is saying something by that, and if you vocalize back they probably will too - on their way out.

Orange Kitty seems healthy and his coat felt as a healthy coat should. It was a good day for cat chat.

Just a short follow up to the Orange kitty.

Yesterday, shows up late, only interested in food.

Today, I got to pet him a few strokes and the tail was uppy.

Huge head and long thin body. Got to find some high potency cat food. I feed kitten mix when I can for the calorie punch but, I think he grew and got skinny. Doesn't take to milk anymore. Use to love it so I reserved it for after better nutrition, now even at same time as regular food, no interest. None of my cats really take to milk.

And I buy Whole organic milk.

The best people I know are cats. Most definitely.

Cats are honest. Except when they are sneaky.

My life was fine, everything had its place, simple, orderly, then I got a kitten, (Rupert). Today my life revolves around the cat, first thing in the morning I must give him treats, then cater to his needs and DEMANDS all day finishing the day by giving him treats. The two dogs know he is the boss, my son and I know this as well.

Cats rule, dogs drool.
