It's not good to have a dog answer to shit-head in public, yanno.

One of my cousins (actually, her three kids) adopted a stray dog that coming into the yard and stealing food from their existing dog. They named it "Thief." They did have neighbor-problems when the kids went into the yard and yelled for the dog.....

I like cats in Autumn.

They seem much more grounded and social

All three.

Solly 🐈 is always willing to eat and keeps growing.

Not getting fat, but becoming a bigger and bigger cat.

I hope he doesn't outgrow his heart or kidney functions.

At night he joins me after I have been in bed an hour or two and stays with me for a short nap,

then takes off and sleeps with little Izzy 🐈

What is special is Solly curls up into my stomach and likes me to hold his back paw.

If I don't do this, he will kick until I do as if searching for my hand with a back paw.

He didn't seem to like it but, tolerated it when I stated the back paw hold.

Now he obviously feels it is part of his Solly Time.

Solly is usually mellow these days. Doesn't go into ecstasy as cats can with one on one time.

Maybe a purr of happiness. When he was small he was a scardy cat and I was the only one he would deal with.

If I was holding him and he got startled, and that didn't take much, I got shredded !

Now he is 16 years old, mellow and only a chicken flavored Greenie is a treat to him.

I think of him as a puppy dog kitty because he is first to bounce on me as soon as I move in the morning.

I can call him and get a reliable response.

It's Autumn and all three cats are so social now.

OFBK :kittygray gets two breakfasts with a short sojourn outside in between.

Then she goes outside knowing her big late lunch will be the beginning of her incarceration inside until the next day.

Today she was really thinking it over and finally decided to come in, although it was a bit earlier than usual.

When she saw she was inside after her meal, she was pissed. Doing the tail flick at me.

Figuring she would crap on the living room carpet if I did not reconsider, I let her outside again.

She came promptly when called in at sunset. Neighbors are amazed I "call in a cat".

They ask if she comes. I say if you notice I stop calling, she came.

I cannot imagine why 4 of her previous 5 homes gave her up and allowed her to move on. She is really sweet.

Solly, the big 🐈 is ill.

For about a week.

He usually eats with gusto, drinks water with gusto and leaves lots of clumped kitty litter.

He stopped about a week ago.

And retreating to where he could not be messed with.

Friday I got worried so called a "house call vet."

As they were on their way, Solly started to nibble a bit of food and drink a bit of water.

So I did not mess with Solly but explained to the vet what was happening and my reluctance to agitate him now.

The vet did check gums, eyes, fur, and Solly's general vitality seems good.

There is no tenderness anywhere so I don't think it is anything "local" like a stone.

No evidence of infection.

His sociability has improved with our nightly in bed cuddle.

He eats and drinks very, very little. I can't document any cat box activity yes or no, in this time.

Solly 🐈 is huge and 16.5 years old this week.

QUIET - Fond wishes and prayers gratefully accepted. His name is Solly and he is the big, big, big brother to Izzy.

Solly 🐈 drank a good deal of water today.

More like one of his usual water stops.

He explores food but, is mostly not interested.

He remains social and gives me my early in bed snuggle.

No tenderness or unusual masses.

Is it worth stressing him out for a vet's visit and blood tests ?

Solly is easily startled and shy.

Opinions appreciated.

Thank You.

This morning he was his Puppy Dog self waiting to enthusiastically to get pet as soon as I move in the morning.

Hydration and coat seem good.

No masses or tenderness. Breath is usual Solly Kitty breath.

Eats and drinks sparingly.

As long as he does a little better each day, I defer blood work.

Kidney, liver, thyroid and diabetes are all in the running.

House Call Vet. ! & !

Taking a cat to a vet's office is cruel.

The vet has been out once and

Today Solly is eating with more gusto.

There is slow and steady improvement day by day.

I am reluctant to agitate him for blood work.

Moi :( but less so
