Mom has a doctor's appointment at 2:30pm today. I went out to check the car and had a flat. I looked in the trunk and the donut was dead too. When AAA roadside service arrived, they refused to take a tire off my car to put it on mom's car (I drive mom's car as mine died). Both use 187x70. AAA truck left.

I then took tire off my car for AAA guy to inflate and put on. I'm waiting for AAA truck now. With luck, my tire will inflate and we'll make mom's appointment only a few minutes late. I'll update as soon as I have word.

If it wasn't for days like this, life would bo so boring -

A miracle happened: the tow truck arrived and changed the tire so we were only three minutes late to the doctor appointment.

However, and there's always a however , the car overheated on the way home. Halfway home I stopped and refilled the radiator with the engine running. I always carry 2-3 bottles of water with me out of habit.

We arrived home safely. Mom is crabby but well.

BTW, last Sunday mom turned 93 years old.

Last night mom kept me up all night with whining. To be perfectly honest, if I had to face the judge today, I'd say mom needs to be in a locked facility under psychiatric care for the rest of her life.

Then again, I haven't had sleep in the last 48+ hours, so I'm sure that fact is affecting my judgement.

Maybe if I can catch 40 winks today, I'll think differently.

A new fun problem has arisen. My comode in the middle bathroom is leaking out water at the rate of one gallons per hour. I reached back and turned off the shut off valve, but nothing happened and the leak continues.

I went out outside and shut off the water to the house, and nothing, The leak continues. I assume it's leaking out of the porcelain. Maybe the commode itself is cracked on the bottom but I can't see any crack.

So I placed a pan to catch at much water as possible as to not furher threaten the foundation of the house. I'd call a plumber but this month is going to be tighter than last month as I need to buy a tire, buy car insurance and pay basic car registration.

Anyone out therre with plumbing experience? I could use the advice.

Postscript: I feed mom Breakfast and THANKGAWD she can't gripe and eat at the same time Thank gawd for small miracles.

There is a cheap gasket where the tank attaches to body. Drain tank, loosen the two bolts that hold to tank. You'll probably need to unscrew water line.

Take gasket to hardware store and ask for replacement, it's 2-3$.

I called several bonding companies and the lowest fee I was quoted for obtaining a $300,000 bond is $1,200. In my case it might as well be $12,000. I haven't seen $1,200 at one time in almost a decade. I'd use the house for collateral except I don't own it. It belongs to mom. I'd seek Power of attorney but since three different physicians declared her "imcompetent to manage her own affairs" she couldn't legally give it to me.

I go to court on October 1 and willask the judge to wave the bond and watch him laugh. I can't borrow money as I've had no income for three years as mom's caregiver and I long ago depleted both my checkings and savings account. MY car is in my name but I doubt a junk dealer would give me $300 as it doesn't run.

I can't borrow from friends because: (1) 99% of my friends here are as poor as I am and (2) the two dear friends I did borrow from have expenses of their own. They generously gave me $1,500 to file for the conservancy and they have done enough for me to be forever in their debt. In addition to the $1,500 these two dear friends gave me a vacumn clearner, ac 32inch TV when mine died and contributed towards my new DVD/VCR. I owe them more than I can ever repay.

Other friends here gave me a cool movie on DVD (Vendetta) and the entire first two seasons of the old Outer Limits series.

If I had any inkling of what I was taking on by acting as mom's 24/7/365 caregiver, I think I might have offed myself as the pain would have been less. Just kidding. I like life too much. I'd rather be miserable and alive than dead and at peace. At least I think so:P

Part of the problem is that my last day off from being mom's slave was eight months ago. I almost know how an 1820's field hand felt like except for my ethnic origin. Nobody could know what the live of a black slave was like unless he/she had been a slave and was black.

OK, enough bitching on my part.

My mom died just a couple months short of her 93rd birthday. My father died at 88. I guess that means that I will live about as long - statisically any how. I guess you will live long also.
