I hope that you like me have good memories of those old activities. I enjoy knowing that I once got to realize some of the things I enjoy. I would love to do more white water canoeing, but that seems close to impossible these days. However, I enjoyed the little bit of that activity I got to do.
I would hope to get back into cycling, perhaps in the springtime if all goes well. One of our nearby state parks has a nice area for riding. I'd hitch the bike up to the back of the truck and spend a few hours at the park. The nice thing about the park is the smooth roads and no traffic to deal with, along with seeing the deer and other critters. Cycling should be a good way

for me to get back into shape and fairly easy to do.
I also have a train layout but I havent had time to work on it for about a year now.It is an out door layout in G guage that has about 300 foot of track but I will redue this layout this spring.I have also had some fun latly polshing rocks I find in my sluce box along with some gold if I get a luckey spot.I have a metal dector that I have found some nice rings and about a thousand dollars in coins but again I havent had time to get this out latly. And I do have the garden going and that dose keep me busy.I love it because I never know what new hobby I will come up with
next but it sure is fun thinking up new things to do.
I forgot to mention I recently bought a rock polishing kit, but have yet to gather enough good stones to fill my first batch. I do have some quartz from a couple of geodes I got this year to try. I'd love to see some of the stones you have from your neck of the woods.
One day I want to see that outdoor layout you have too.
Metal detecting is another hobby I'd like to get into someday. I have an old metal detector, but it just seems so complicated to use. So far I've only managed to to detect in the backyard without much luck. Finding some places where there don't mind you poking around with one seems to be a chore in itself. If I save my pennies maybe oneday I'll get one of those newer machines that looks to be a lot easier to use.

Christian I have a Garet 2000 and love the thing as it is easy to use.I also found some stones on the beach as they were already tumbled on the beach and were easy to polish.

My Hobbies are all centered around the house as I seem trapped here most of the time. They include:
Taping documentaries of politics, history, nature and general science. I then catagorize, cross reference each recoeding by title, topic, nation and personalities featured. I type up each tape which takes from 9 to 21 pages. I have over one hundred notebooks filled with documentaries. I can look them up on a microsoft office program. I also record a few movies,
To date, I have 544 movie tapes and 1,280 documentary tapes.
My only only other hobbies are online flirting, posting on the Message Boards, harassing IEunuch in the chatoom, playing a stupid online game called Kitty Cannon, lying to the world that I'm younger than River and pocket pool.
I regard the above activities as techniques to retain my sanity as I act a caregiver for me mum.
That's about it.

I used to tape both movies and documentaries. My former wife took the movie tapes, simply because she took the television. I ended up with her large collection of recordings, which I eventually gave away.
I now tape docmentaries from time to time, but I am so lazy that I rarely even label them.

Somehow, I suspect that Lazy is not the correct word.... Sometimes we just simply cant find our way to do things we might otherwise!...

True! That sounds better.

Hobbies? Who has time for hobbies? When my eyes can't read my work notes anymore, I go online looking for men into my particular fetishes. For someone close to a major city, I feel exiled and isolated a lot. My cat is a hobby, I suppose. She likes lots of attention. I also look for interesting internet vids, and when I could afford it, I played City of Heroes and City of Villains (pc games). Because it's free, I now play Dungeon Runners. It's not as much fun as CoH/CoV.
I listen to baseball on the radio...
and when I have no choice, I garden. I'm a renter, and a previous owner of this house left a huge uncontrollable garden. Things bloomed this year I have never seen bloom before. This is my 3rd or 4th summer here. For the first time, scarlet lilies bloomed in the front yard, for instance, and in the back, the Lilirope bloomed. There's always something blooming in the front yard. Even in winter, the Jasmine blooms. Too bad Jersey City doesn't like the garden. They decided the 6' Zebra Grass was a weed. It only covers an area the size of a trash can lid, but one neighbor didn't like it and complained. I had to cut down every tall plant and ornamental grass just a few weeks ago. In the process, I disturbed 3 stray puffball tiger kittens who no longer have a place to hide and play. Sad that a bitchy neighbor can call ignorant garden cops here to destroy nature.
And oh, I suppose one other hobby (that I can't afford anymore) is collecting and smoking Boswell pipes.
