Peterain Many thanks for the response. I hope that you are as content as I imagine you are. It will be my turn in a few months if all goes well. I have always felt that what is being charged for this operation really is outrageous for what the operation entails. I had a vasectomy in South America and that cost US$300. So, if you consider that a bi-lateral orchiectomy is a double vasectomy plus a little extra to cut out the spare skin (scrotum) then it should not cost much more than $500 - $600. I had a circumcision in Malaysia about 10 years ago and at that time (in an expensive clinic) I only paid US$400.

You know, I have never injected myself in my life. The first time was yestarday when I injected my testicle and it went very well. I have studied so many orchiectomies on youtube that I am confident, given the right tools and anasthetic, I could do this.

So, if there happens to be a US Network TV producer reading this forum, I am volunteering to perform an orchiectomy on myself for recording and subsequent

broadcast on TV. + plus do a personal TV interview to go with the operation film. What I will require is:

1) US$ 8,5000 (net of US taxes)plus my travel and hotel expenses for the recording

2) Transportation costs to and from my home to the studios

3) An equipped operating theater with a surgeon on stand-by (out of camera shot to advise me as to what I should be doing)

4) A large magnifying mirror so that I can see what I am doing.

5) A first class make-up artist to "feminize" me so that my friends and family don't recognize me on TV

6) An ambulance on stand-by in case something goes wrong

7) A financial deal on sales of this program to overseas or US TV networks

To me, that is an offer they cannot refuse......

and, in the best traditions of rock singers and other celebrities

1) 10 bags of M&M's with the red ones removed

2) 2 bottles of Rosé wine at room temperature

3) A set of VS underwear to use after the op.

Failing this I would go to Bangkok - find an Urologist and go to his office with a roll of banknotes in my hand and explain how much I would be prepared to pay

for him to do the op without all the stupidity of papers. If he says that's not possible, I would get up to go and then be called back by the surgeon who who sees

money walking out the door.

Now if you or your friends need to circumcision in Malaysia, you may only need to pay about US$400~US$500. For the bilateral orchiectomy surgery if you do not have any psychology letter I do not think you can get a legal doctor and legal way to do the surgery for you (Thailand or Malaysia). You can try your way and let us know.

(rant)Yes, medical charges in US are what a monopolistic restricted market can bear, hence the ACA. The charges , by anyone else's standards are nothing short of the outrageous. (/rant) This is why medical tourism is so popular.

The difference in the medical charges is often more than enough to pay for fare and accommodation, -and some. I've heard it said that some Thailand clinics will arrange a local interview for the purposes of the justifying letter. It is no trouble for most; they just want to know that the planned procedure is not inappropriate before doing something bad and irreversible. (I believe there was a rash of young Thai kids who were nutted before being sufficiently adult to make good choices. It's really to stop this sort of thing.)

I would think that it's easy to ask the clinic or surgeon overseas to see what is required before buying the ticket. It may turn out to be easier than often supposed, and a lot cheaper.

Thanks for the compliment! I am very special. No T, only minimal E. And I feel good!

That is a very good reply - however, I am convinced when the time is right, I'll find a Thai surgeon to do it at less then $500 and do a good job. I remember when I got circumcised in Kuala Lumpur, the hotel doctor found me a surgeon for which I had to pay him US$100 for the consultation and I told the surgeon I was only in KL for two more days and if he wanted the job, he would have to do it the following day. For US$ cash, he opened his office 30 minutes early to fit me in. Finding a surgeon over the internet is not as easy as sitting in his office with cash in hand!!

I had do my circumcise surgery 30 years ago(1983) only total about Singapore $300~$400(US$100~$250)(1982).

Bilateral orchiectomy surgery the doctor will required for psychology letter. Bangkok have one cheap clinic only US$1250, and the doctor also required for psychology letter, you can search from the website.

The reason why I did not choose the cheap clinic was I do not trust the doctor. If you want to do the legal way, you really need to get a psychology letter. Before you travel you need to check and make sure you find more inform from them.

12 years ago(before 2003) if I require for bilateral orchiectomy surgery(Thailand), I will only need to pay less than US$1000, without require psychology letter and most of the clinic doctor can do the job.

Less than US$500 you cannot get a legal doctor doing the legal way for the bilateral orchiectomy surgery. This I am very sure.
