I've never driven a car, so my opinions are just hypothetical, but I once read the New Jersey Driver's Manual. To pass the written test, you're required to learn what to do in certain emergencies. The Manual says that if the gas pedal is stuck, put the car in neutral and then brake.

If you can reach the ground with your foot in a 1930 model A you have longer legs than anyone I know.
Did have the throttle stick on a 1956 Chrysler Hemi when a motor mount broke, back then the throttle linkage consisted of linked rods and the neutral button worked.
I've driven over a million miles in electronic throttled vehicles with no problems. On the other hand I've had incidents with ABS (brakes) since they came out in the 90's
Both Ford and GM have had larger recalls than Toyota.
I've perked Coffee longer than you have been alive. Perkolation doesn't happen until the water boils.
LIFE HAPPENS! deal with it.

To me drive-by-wire systems in modern cars are a bit scary.
As for the killswitch - its a necessity for any dangerous equipment - be it car or something else.
I remember back in 2002 we were building a machine for stacking boxes coming from the conveyor... Killswitch for shutting off power to the control valves was installed after software error (my bad

) and wiring error (the sensors for the up and down directions were swapped

).
No one was hurt, but that machine jumped all over the floor
I agree on both counts. Every car and truck on the highway should have a BIG RED mushroom. I have to use one once on a large CNC Mill. I accidentally put the wrong tool in the collet and it was really spectacular. My boss asked me if I was on drugs or just retarded. I said no but I will look into taking drugs ;p

Yeah, but when you perc it, it isn't coffee, it's crap. Nowadays we make coffee the right way, even at McDonalds.

You live in New Jersey and were born in 1950 and have never driven a car, How can that be?

Way back at the top of this thread I said the cop that hit the wall at 120 MPH ........................
Hell, put the damn thing in park but anything but scream.
River
If you could get it into park at 120 mph, that would be almost as dangerous as hitting the wall.

There should be a government standard for,
shutting off a run away car.
No hold the button down three seconds or is it
Tap the button twice, or three times.
Maybe tap out S O S on the button.
Is the emergency brake still on a solid cable?
Why not engage it too?
Maybe a solid cable emergency brake should be required
even on cars with regenerative braking systems. As long as the cable physically engages the brakes.
Moi
For more government regulations as weights and standards and the D cell battery configuration.

My money is on Communist Oppression.
I think the Communist Party of New Jersey stole the car. They are sneaky folk. They hide their black helicopters in backyards and side streets, then suddenly, they leap out of the dark and rape your wife and daughter.
