The Norwegan study is available in book form at specialized used book stores. It is difficult to find and it can be expensive. The study itself has flaws that are not easily ignored. The original subjects were, for the most part, volunteers in name only. Castrations were only performed at the request of a court or medical practitioner. Most of those who seemed to "volunteer" were coerced into "volunteering" by various means. Qute a large number of them were promised reduced imprisonment, of sub-standard intelegence or emotionaly unstable when they requested castration. Considering the time period the enabling law was probably influenced by an earlier eugenics movement. --FLO--

Well, it happened on Aug. 15. I am now 30 days without testicles AND scrotum. Of course, with it only 30 days since my surgery, the scar is still prominent. I am using Maderma and hope that it will help the scar to fade.:)

I did find out that I am the only patient my Dr. has had that he removed both testes dur to pain. He had removed one on some men but never both. And I am also the only one he has removed the scrotum from. He did a very good job.

In a heartbeat. Yes and as a side note the hoops you have to jump through should be elimanted as well. Considering my in realtionship and at my age well sex is the lowest item on the list it is a distraction now that takes away from things I would be exploring then spending it frustrated and bitter due to a lack of drive on my spouses half.

I would go ahead and have them removed, probably scrotum too.

I have an older Dr. now, who doesn't seem to have 'qualms' about the subject. I have spoken with him about it, but at the time, was encouraged to "not think about that right now...wait to see how you feel in a few months." He explained what Physicians have to answer to, and what it'd mean to me. Though most of what he said went right through. :-| It was good advice, as I do feel a little differently now.

My 'orbs' still have some body influence, but it wouldn't bother me for others to "know it", if they were gone. I might even wear tighter pants.

It is irritating that in the U.S., a woman can walk into any Clinic or Dr. Office and plop down the required amount of $, and get the requested 'alterations', with NO Social stigma, other than maybe some whispered gossip from socialites. There are no LAWS, or considered Physicians Practices for her to worry with. Men have to, as Free to be ME put it, "jump through hoops."

And we are a 'progressive' country full of 'equal opportunities'!

gandalf; Keep using the Maderma and eat a lot of pineapple and/or take some Bromelain tablets, if you are worried about scarring. Well-known to speed up healing and minimize scarring.

There are 2 different procedures, one Trans-scrotal just like a vasectomy, you make a cut in the sac and tie off the nut and cut it away. Done with a local and easy to do, but you run the risk of infection at the surgical site, as suturing the sac with is very flexible is not as easy to suture securely.

Second, is done under general anesthesia, the cut is made in the inguinal canal (this is where the doctor sticks his finger to check for a hernia) and the nut and cord are drawn up out of the sac and then removed. The incision needs a small mesh patch and the muscles are sutured. You need to refrain from heavy lifting for 30 days, much the same as a hernia repair.

The second method is more expensive as it uses general anesthesia and is really similar to a hernia repair and of course costs more. Make sure that you are comparing apples to apples when your looking at the costs.

I do wish that I could find a local doctor to remove my dead testicles. I can afford Dr. Kimmel's price, but the thought of travelling by airplane to a strange city and then having to stay for many days in a strange hotel in order to recover, is very daunting. Surely there must be an easy way to convince a local urologist to do the job for me. [sigh]

I think you have asked the age old question. How do you get a local Dr. to do IT?
