He recommended it when I called him a few weeks ago. The hotel is nice can't complain. It was three hundred something dollars for three nights."

It appears to be the Springhill Suites by Marriott.

Well if that's the Marriott I'm thinking of, it's right next door (they basically share entrance/exits) to the Detroit Marriott Southfield. Now the Springhills is just your basic two level motel that you find all over the country. I wanted something where I didn't have to drive to get a meal or a drink and the Marriott Southfield has a bar, a restaurant and room service (I needed that the first night after the procedure) none of which is available at the Springhills unit next door. The Southfield is about 5 stories high, a bit older hotel and tough to miss, but the prices were pretty much inline with those of the Springhills next door.

I'm not sure how the gentleman got from those hotels to Dr. Arnkoff's office by walking in 10 minutes, it takes about that long to drive there from the hotel. There were no courtesy bus services from the Detroit Metro airport to Southfield. Taxi rides from the airport to the hotel were about $75.00 each IIRC when I was there about three years ago. So I rented a car to get to Southfield and from the hotel to and from Dr. Arnkoff's office. That was less money than the two taxi rides would have been.

There's a little eatery just East of the Doctor's office where I went for a bite of breakfast while waiting for the nearby Walgreens to open up so I could fill the prescriptions. I was happy as a clam until the anesthetic started to wear off, but that's a story I've already told here.

My procedure was $2000.00 at that time and with airfare, car rental, meals, drinks and the hotel, it added about another $1000.00 to the total price tag and at least half of that was the plane tickets.

Hi I am dj1990.

Dr. Arnkoff has moved his office. When I had the orchie I walked from the hotel to his office but now I drove. I just had a penectomy with him on April 11th. It is just a short drive about 10 minutes. His new office is 32255 Northwestern Highway, Farmington Hills, MI. It's the building that says Millennium medical group. This time I stayed in extended stay America in Southfield that is about a 3 minute drive from Spring Hill. It is much cheaper. I stayed there 26 nights and it cost me a little over $800. That is so cheap I am so happy they exist. Saved me a lot of money. I finished my work assignment in Wisconsin so I decided to go straight to Michigan and stayed there 14 nights before I even had the surgery. Then I also took a while to recover before I was ready to drive back to Massachusetts where my family is.

The staff is nice but some of the guests are shady. Just be prepared if you stay there. I heard a lady argue with the front desk late at night in some of her yelling I heard things like "bitch you izz who you izz bitch". Don't get me wrong some of the guests are also very nice and normal and I never saw anything really bad. I took the extra effort to be really nice to the staff when I realized what they have to deal with.

Inside it's also nice for such a cheap hotel. Had a pretty spacious room with a kitchen and a bathroom of course. Kitchen had microwave, oven, fridge, and counter. Also pretty decent cabinets with lots of space. Of course had climate control, tv, and a queen bed. And the laundry room machines are also in good condition. They have vending machines too if you want to make $$ into quarters to use the machines or the front desk will give you quarters. I was in pain and medicated and didn't like having to go outside a lot so there are a lot of places around that deliver food. I love middle eastern food I kept ordering from Shish Kabob Express and Byblos Cafe & Grill their food is so damn good.

But anyways that was his old office so it's not important. But I walked there and walked back to Spring Hill Suites after the orchiectomy. Even though Dr. Arnkoff told me not to walk back after the surgery but I was young and wild. I even went to eat at the Tim Hortons by Spring Hill. Then I started feeling like I will faint. Then I realized I need to start listening to what doctors tell me.

Thanks for sharing your experience. You did the smart thing by not rushing your post-op recover and giving yourself plenty of time to allow you to full healed. Too many newly-minted eunuch think that they can hop off the table and go about their business in a day or two. It doesn't work that way. I figure if I have to go out of town that I am going need at least 2 to 3 weeks minimum to recover and to adjust to being a "real" eunuch and not being just another 50 something guy with low testosterone.

Dr Arnkoff is the way to go if someone wants to become a eunuch without a doing DYI job or going to a cutter or seeking or to the ER and/or paying off a shrink to get a letter.

Thanks. Yep you should definitely be off for at least two weeks. Three is even better if possible. And I am so happy Dr. Arnkoff does it the way he does it. The therapist and hormone requirements by other doctors are horrible. They are lengthy, expensive, and not everyone wants to take hormones.

Hey Heinrich, thanks a lot for sharing your experience and the updated information. It is very helpful, as I will be going for an orchiectomy with Dr. Arnkoff in about a month.
