It is raining here now, it is supposed to turn into snow by morning.
Is that when the Oakies sleep with the goats?
A large Siamese cat begging to sleep at my waist is appreciated on cold nights,
too hot in the Summer. Little brother Siamese is a foot cramper at night.

For a moment I felt warm when the Santa Ana winds abated and a regular coastal influence was briefly back. Now another Santa Ana Wind event. This one may reach me with those really high gusts per the future cast of the wind events last gasp.
My automatic natural gas powered generator is scheduled for repair Monday.
Let "them" hope their batteries are charged.

We haven't had a hard freeze yet except for that one freak snowstorm.
It was 59 today and I wore a shirt and tie too the symphony, no need for a winter jacket.

I was in San Francisco on Friday and sorry that I'd worn a long-sleeve shirt. Yesterday set a new record for the date here – 77°F – when the average is 58°. Heat, bright sun, and fear of drought. The weather report tonight was of the current forest fire danger.

Makes me remember the words of Sam Clemens "The coldest winter I ever spend was a summer in San Francisco."
People don't know the weather pattern there is reverse of every other place.

I believe "the City" is now connected to the State water system. Because back in the late mid-late seventies they were only piped from the reservoirs south of the City built after the great quake of '06. And they were looking dry. The State water bank, the Sierra snow pack was running low and predictions were it would take several good years to build up again. It happened in less then one season, then the concern was for the reservoirs over flows and the avalanche risk due to the record snow pack. That time may be locked into the group consciousness of San Francisco, even if they are now connected to the State.
Don't worry about my water here in Southern California. The storms have really laid on the snow pack although many never reached me. So I turn on my sprinklers with that good, Northern California water. They have a bumper sticker up there;

"Flush Twice, it is a long way to Southern California".
My garlic is sprouting gang busters. White onion just beginning. Have not coaxed any new carrot or lettuce or pea sprouts. The loquats continue to produce candles of flowers that become bunches of fruit. A thick ole potato vine was turning autumny so I dug for the 'tater. None there. Red Skins have been found two fists big. Crisp and sweet cut in pieces, oiled, seasoned, backed. Other sorts not so hot. Avocados getting bigger. Lemons with one ripe crop and one green crop and no flowers expected for a month or so.

Moi, San Francisco gets its water from Hetch Hetchy, think Yosemite, John Muir, Sierra Club.

Central Oregon (and the washington /oregon cascades) is stuck in a dry spell. Beautiful bluebird days here in Central Oregon, but mornings are a bit brisk, 7 today at 07:00 (we have had 20 below in early february in years past, but still 7 this time of year is a bit rough).
worst is that our ski areas are running on the 36 inches that they got just before Thanksgiving. Some of the areas are not open but everyone else is trying to make what they have last. Supposed to be a change start of next week, but so far nothing really great (read that as heavy snow in cascades, build up our base). I am hapy skiing on anything, and our local mountain is handling the conditions very well, but for good business our areas need more snow. El Nina forecast was for a dry start and then mucho more moisture like last spring, but I don't think anyone expected this dry. I've got a new set of powder boards locked in the closet, I will not take them out till at least 60".
Ski areas and farmers are both highly dependent on weather, and ski areas don't get federal bail out

Looking at weather dot com,
it looks like high positive ion charged, dry desert winds will continue through most of the week although not wind storming, it will still make the cats hair spark.
And it started as such a gloriously wet Autumn too. I expect the wet cycle will return in a month or two.
