Meanwhile in London, it’s around 8C and cloudy for the god knows how many day in a row. We had winter back in December with around 2 weeks of snow, and ever since it’s been a perpetual 8-12c, generally cloudy, a bit of sun and bit of drizzle.

The 3 days I spent in London, years ago, I think I saw the sun once. It felt like a much flatter version of Seattle, Washington, US.

In Minneapolis we have received about 4 inches of snow, but we keep getting warnings about tonight and tomorrow. I'll believe it when I see it. I really don't expect much. Southern Minnesota though is getting quite a bit, but not 25 inches.

I survived the Halloween blizzard of '91 with about 28 inches of snow -- I drove a van through that all night long, and came out OK. I can't drive like that anymore (not physically able), so I won't give it a try.

Here's wishing for a nice vacation somewhere like Hawaii.

We ended up getting about 5 inches overnight. Far cry from what was predicted. Collin was here at 0900 and had everything cleared up in 20 minutes (lots of sidewalks and 14x 28 patio he's been keeping clear, and 130 ft driveway). 3 DAYS IN A ROW HE HAS TAKEN CARE OF ME -- HE HAS EARNED A BONUS.

When I was loaned out to the Tennessee office in the 70s, the weather was definitely in a cycle. It started raining Fri/Sat morning and quit Sunday night/Mon. For like nine weeks in a row. Then take the larger cycle of too hot and humid May thru mid-Sept and humid cold Nov – March, subtract the above rainy weekends and you can count the nice weekends on your hands.

I think I saw more nice weekends of good weather in 2 months in Yuma, AZ than a year in Tennessee. But then Tennessee is not downstream from Pahrump.

Big Bear is snowed in and

It was near 70 around noon, now it's 32F. I hate this time of year.

I’d generally agree with that view, although London actually only gets half the rainfall of Seattle (23 inches vs 40 inches); it’s actually a surprisingly dry, but cloudy city. Today is once again cloudy and 8C. Sun is meant to finally come out this weekend though. Where the USA has UK beat is air conditioning, we get a lot of 30c + plus days from June to August but few homes here have air con. Last summer we had 3 days above 40C and a full 14 consecutive days over 35C. It was hell.

I'm glad to hear you have help with this. I'm not looking forward to clearing our walks when it snows. I was expecting it this winter as my first in a colder area (though not as severe as yours) and I only have about 50 x 3ft, and my short double driveway of about 30 feet. My hips just can't take it right now. I hope I can get that problem sorted soon.

My family wouldn't turn on the AC until it was between 35-40C. But honestly, it would cool down enough at night, and putting fans near the open window would cool the sleeping areas considerably even upstairs where it was warmest. However today, that home is getting a lot of snow. Wonder what it will be like when I visit towards the end of next month?

How many follow the Farmer's Almanac for weather predictions?
