Last night we had winds so strong and chaotic I actually had the thought of a tornado (it is too mountainous generally for tornados, but I did see a funnel cloud a couple of years ago that did not reach the ground). Turns out a genuine tornado did some damage about 50 miles north.

Fall is here to bring my potted plants in last night and the trees are turning nicely.

I will mist summer no more nude romps in the woods.

We're expecting the first near-freeze Friday or Saturday night. I moved all the potted plants in last week, including the 4'x3.5' Christmas cactus in a hanging planter that consumed most of the living room.

Just a kidding takeoff on the line I have heard during northern winters about bringing in your brass monkeys tonight - it'll be a cold one. Actually, it is amazing how people can get acclimatized. When I lived in east Tennessee, I was always impressed how we would be shivering in our parkas and northerners would be walking around like it was a heat wave.

Thunder last night and morning with cloud bursts.
For all that noise and sudden torrents, only about
2 mm total water.
