Update on progress:

Yesterday, I tried the clamp on my right cord again since I was not satisfied with the shrinkage of my right testis. The first thing that I discovered was that there was no sensation in the cord. It's dead. No need for further clamping. Testis feels firm and has little sensation (actually it is difficult to tell if the sensation is in the testis or in the skin of the scrotum).

Today, my wife checked me again. Whee! It's fun getting felt up! Anyhow, she says she is certain that the right testis is dead and is slowly shrinking.

I suggested that it might be time to clamp the left cord. The wife suggested that I wait and see if there were any further changes or problems first. So I am holding off for now. But she did give my pubes a good clean shave. More enjoyment! However, she does not want to see me clamp the cord (at some future date) despite there being no blood or even much pain. Darn! Any volunteers? (Just kidding.)

Maybe get a ruler and take measurements of the shrinking teste, to see how fast that little bugger disappears (after burdizzo'd they do disappear, dont they?).

From my observations the "little bugger" won't disappear but will shrink to about one fourth its former size. However, some shrink a lot and some only a little bit. I've never seen one that was completely absorbed. --FLO--

Oh, no shit. I thought they were supposed to be completely absorbed. But I guess I never took the burdizzo option too seriously for myself since it sounds so damn painful. Also that one guy who had a rather elaborate and informative website set-up with all kinds of info surrounding his burdizzo castration, and it just all seemed to me so much less effective than just carving the thingies out.

Though the idea that burdizzo'ing might mean no hospital assistance certainly was attractive at that time, and if it works I suppose that would be much more cost-effective that having to go the hospital to get patched-up and go through with all the mental inpatient crap.

Thanks for the input from you-all about ball shrinkage (or not). Looks like my right ball is not going to shrink much. However, you can tell that it is dead because it is cooler in temperature than the left one.

The way to measure ball size is with a set of calibrated plastic ovoids that come on a long chain or thread like a weird looking bracelet. I don't have this gadget, but I do have a full size 2-dimensional version (outlines only) on a piece of paper. The 3-D gadget is used by feeling the patient's balls and then feeling the gadget and comparing the size. It is quite a bit harder to do this with only a flat paper template. The ovoids are numbered from 1 to 8, 10, 14, 16, 18, and 25. The instructions say that 4 thru 14 are prepubescent. Adult size is 16 thru 27. My right ball looks to be a 14 and the undamaged left is perhaps an 18. Using a ruler I find that a 10 is 36 mm, 14 is 42 mm, 16 is 44 mm, and 18 is 45 mm, while 25 is 50 mm along the longest axis. I think the numbers refer to volume, but I am not sure.

One thing that strikes me as strange is how easy it was for me to kill my right ball. There was little or no pain, and I used a simple handheld plastic woodworking clamp that I bought at a hardware store for about $6. I only clamped the cord for about 1 minute each for three times trying various positions to be sure to get all of the cord in the flat clamp jaws which are only about 30x35 mm.

Please note that I do not have any vas deferens (sperm ducts) since they were removed in a vasectomy many years ago. It is my opinion that having an intact vas makes it problematical and painful to use a Burdizzo. The vas deferens is about the diameter of a lead pencil with a very tiny almost microscopic duct in the center. The vas is very tough and rubbery. (I was able to examine mine after they were cut and removed.) With no vas in the way, clamping the blood vessels was extremely easy and almost painless.

My wife wants me to hold off on doing the left side for a few weeks, otherwise I'd be a full eunuch already.

After both sides are dead, I'll go have a physical done by my family doctor and see if he can tell if anything is wrong with my testicles. I'll tell him that I fell over a sawhorse and bruised my groin a while back if he wants to know what happened. Then it should be easy to find an urologist who will remove my dead balls, and my long journey will be over.

There are various ways to measure testicle size. An ultrasound is considered to be the most accurate of these, though it is expensive and requires elaborate machinery and analysis of the results.

There has been reference here to direct measurement using calipers. This takes some calculation, but is also considered quite accurate. Testicular volumes are calculated using the formula – length x width x height x 0.71.

Most commonly, though, medical personnel will use an “orchidometer.” These come in various forms, though the most common are the “Prader Orchidometer,” a string of testicle-shaped beads, and the “Rochester Orchidometer,” a series of flat pieces of metal, each with a cut-out the shape of a testicle. The Prader orchidometer consists of 12 solid ellipses of various sizes (1–25 cc) while the Rochester orchidometer is a series of flat cut out elliptical rings (1–30 cc) which can be placed directly over the testis. The testicles are compared with the orchidometer to find the closest match in size.

The prepubertal testis is approximately 2 cc in volume. The onset of puberty begins with enlargement of the testis at approximately 11.4 years. The growth spurt in height starts when the testes are approximately of 8 cc in volume and hits its maximum at approximately 12 cc. For most boys, the voice begins to deepen at a testicle size of about 12 to 13 cc. The normal adult testis is 15-25 ml. First production of motile sperm occurs at a median age of 13.4 years (range 11.7 to 15.3), at a time when median testicle size is 11.5 cc Azoospermia (lack of fertile sperm) is likely if the volume of each adult testis is 10 cc or less.

Professor Stephen Shalet, a leading endocrinologist who works for the Christie Hospital in Manchester, is reported to have told The Observer, "Every endocrinologist should have an orchidometer. It's his stethoscope."

If this theory is correct, you may have discovered a cheap way for guys to get castrated. All they have to do is have a vasectomy, where they remove a section of cord, wait a while and do your clamping.

It's not likely you will fool the urologist. They can see in an ultrasound where you clamped. That I know from experience. I just did a little clamping with a pair of needle nose pliers and they saw that. So did I when I saw the picture.

You might want to save the embarrassment and just get your testosterone level checked. That will tell if they are working or not.

Here's an update on my condition:

Right ball is shrunken (perhaps half size) and feels solid to the touch. I'm pretty sure it is dead, and my wife thinks so too. I am amazed that a simple clamp with a gadget that looks like a pair of vise-grip pliers for only one minute did the job. Without the vas deferens in the way, the blood vessels were easy to squash without any feeling other than a nasty squeezing sensation that wasn't really painful to take.

I'm not sure that my left ball is functional either as I have lost a lot of my sex drive and morning erections don't last very long. Also, I can piss better so I'd guess my prostate is shrinking too. I did play with a rubber band around my scrotum before I used the clamp on the right side. Possibly I damaged the left side blood vessels with the banding experiment (that was painful). Left ball is still the same size and has feeling in it and feels slightly squishy (normal) to the touch, but my T level is definitely down.

In 6-weeks or so, I've only had sex with the wife once, and the orgasm felt normal although it might not have been as strong. Today I felt horny upon waking, but it went away soon after. I did have some semen dribble out of my penis so my prostate is still making fluid. I should try masturbating, but I don't really feel like it. I guess I'm right where I wanted to be - a eunuch at last, or at least a partial eunuch. No real hot flashes yet, but my wife seemed to think that I was having one the other day (and she ought to know as she has them all the time). No apparent loss of muscle tone or strength, but then I was never very muscular anyway. If anything, my enthusiasm and energy level are up - not down.

Another interesting observation -- my pubic hair has slowed or even stopped growing! My wife shaved me just after I did the clamping. Now my pubic hair is growing out, but not at the rate at which it used to.
