How common is it not to experience this? Also, how much exercise and dieting
is generally required to prevent weight gain?I am in no way an expert in this.
I asked the same question some time ago here:
http://forums.eunuch.org/showthread.php ... #post88059 . The next post replies to it.
Fat redistribution - after castration, without HRT, you will definitely get it. The question is not how common, but how pronounced it would be. I suspect it would be also dependent on the diet (phytoestrogens and all). Cognitive capacities - I can say they change, along with the stress response, from personal experience (I was on chemical castration, and I had some issues with memory).
Also, if my memory serves me right, there were posts by homptydumpty here, where she talked about effects of losing testosterone. But that was voluntary, so effects will be different.

No memory loss that I am aware of (I forget,

). Irritability - YES! And I cry easily....

Memory seems to be as good as ever, however getting fat is real easy, but a strict diet, or to say it better eating health is a must or you may end up like I have, FAT. But I am working on that health eating thing.

I would like to better understand the depression involved with castration. I understand that there are a lot of men (who had testicular cancer) who are not nessasaryly volinteers to be castrated and I can understand why depression would be high with them, but what about those who do volunteer and pursue this of there own accord? Is depression still high?

I was voluntarily castrated by Dr. couple years ago. After the initial excitement wore off, I moped around awhile, brooded and was bit depressed over the loss of my testicles. Even though I wanted to be castrated, there was still a sense of loss and mourning for my balls, and wondering about how I would adjust to living without them. I'm cool with it now though I still deal with depression from time to time, which pre-dated my castration anyway.
