Saw my Urology specialist today.

We are having trouble with the perineal urethrostomy (the uthreal reroute).

There is one small bit that hasn't healed yet, so the chatheter is still in three weeks after opp, and they will look at it again in a weeks time.

Oh well

After the catheter came out following my penectomy last month, I would wake in the morning with my pelvic floor muscles contracted so tight it almost felt like an erection. It still happens when I wake, but not as strong. Since I had the complete root of the penis removed, they no longer have the resistance of lifting the penis root, so they don't quite know what to do quite yet. I think they want help the morning arousal, but there is nothing there now to arouse :-)

I have not had waking moments of "phantom penis", but woke up this morning to a dream where my surgery sutures broke open, and part of my erect penis re-emerged. And I was SO pissed at my surgeon that she didn't take everything like I wanted!!

Thanks TooMuch

My Urologist said whe I mentioned it that the nerves from the pinis are still there, they are just under the skin.

You can't see where the cut pinis finishes because they then pulled the top of the ball sack up which now covers it.

My Urologist was happy that I got to feel the phantom erection as it mean the nerves are working and later on and I might be able to stimulate myself there once its all healed.

All the bets TooMuch

As a fellow penis amputee, I will second your urologist. You'll be able to get off and have orgasms again, if you want to.

Good for you, but bummer about needing the catheter in longer. I was going nuts with the catheter after 9 days - I could not even imagine dealing with it for 3 weeks!

When my urologist asked about nerve preservation, I said "take the nerves", and seems she most DEFINITELY did!! She must have taken them off farther in, as I have a zero feeling or clue where the end of them might be!! She did say she was going to go a bit further down than her usual penectomy, taking the cavernosa at the crura to eliminate any all erectile tissue, so would not be surprised if the dorsal neurovascular bundle was also severed deeper inside. The GOOD thing about that is that I had ZERO pain after my surgery!! I am only a month out, so it may be too early to tell if any nerve regeneration will happen, but I am actually VERY happy with the lack of any feeling as removal of ability for sexual stimulation (or as much as possible) down there was one of my primary goals for this surgery.

Another delay with removing the catheter.

I was rushed back to hospital with a major Unrinry track infectiom, so back on antibiotics (bummer)

They also replaced the old catherter for a new one, and they hope it will come out next week. The new pee hole is almost healed.

Have a PET scan next week to see what other lymthp nodes are efected and any other cancers or tumors in the body, so they can prepair for my next opperation.

Thanks for all your support.

Sorry to hear that - UTI's suck! (I tend to get one every couple of years) Unfortunately nullo's tend to be at higher risk than regular folks because the bugs have less distance to cover between the outside world and the bladder... The good thing is that most of the antibiotics will knock them down fairly fast.

Once the catheter is out (and even before) be real careful about 'personal hygiene' and it is best to pick clothing (especially underwear) that is made from stuff like cotton that will help keep the area ventilated and wick moisture away...
