That reminds me of a comic strip. Cartoon of a frumpy older woman who is walking through hell in flames but totally unconcerned and calmly whistling to herself. Two devils are watching her pass by. One devil says, " We will never break her, she taught middle school ! "

One of the truest cartoons. We had it hanging in our phy ed/ coaches office in the boys locker room for years.

My first book was a study of the social life of middle school students. I was regularly asked how I could manage being around them as much as I was. I found them to be great fun as they tried to see how far they could push the system without it coming down on them. It was a great game for them.

That must have been one very thick book. It is all about the social life and drama for middle school students. I've taught them all (k-12 and adult/college) in my 20 + years in education and middle school students by far are the most social/drama filled.

And, yes, I agree, they are indeed fun!

Looking forward to this. I made motel reservations this morning. So, I am planning on being there baring any unforeseen circumstances. It'll be a long motorcycle ride from the Seattle area to Prescott WI. I haven’t decided yet on how many days I want to take to get there. I can do it in 3 long days, or 5 shorter days.

Have any further plans been made other than those already announced? Do you have an idea of how many will be there?

hey Gordon, I left my house in Mexico 15 days ago enroute for MoM. I seldom just do a direct ride so spent a week on the cooler coast of SoCal. Just rode to the Phoenix valley today. Oh yeah, a huge temperature difference. I see why they call those Arizonans who head for SoCal to cool off "zonies" Hi Hi.

It'll be great to meet you at MoM gathering of the clan.

Will be nice to meet you also, along with who else shows up.

Yes I know what you mean about Phoenix. I spent a week there once, I said, never again. Ouch.

Are camp sites open in the area?

In the area of the MoM, there are a few parks and camp grounds. If you do campgrounds on the Minnesota side, especially state parks, you need a reservation in advance, like 9 to 12 months. If nothing else, you can camp in someone's back yard.
