Oh man, I have been busy and haven't been on the forums much and totally missed this news. How sad! He was a regular here (almost 10 years!) with whom we conversed on many threads. It is a modern thing to have such familiarity with someone that we have not met in person, but I think it is because on a forum like this we're sharing such a secret part of ourselves that one can't help to bond -- I mean what more can define friends but to share such things remotely or in person.
