Most new shows do something called character development. I would give it a few episodes before making judgements. Of course, passing judgement is what the network execs do and scripted shows don't make it. This is why you end up with "reality" show after "reality" show.

The person in charge of greenlighting all the FOX shows was quietly shown the door just after the network upfronts a few months back. I would expect FOX to start making some changes soon, though they still have to get through introducing Gracepoint (next week, based on BBC's Broadchurch and has David Tenant (Dr. Who) and Anna Gun (Skyler White of Breaking Bad). In the spring come Backstrom and Wayward Pines. Fox is trying out the British business model of short, serialized shows that come around once a year but with more shows in between. Gracepoint and Wayward Pines are the first two.

I think if the TV experts would give a show a chance they might last longer, then again you don't need to pay nearly the same for a news or reality show and the advertisers still pay the same.

I don't watch any reality shows.

I did see BROADCHURCH and I will watch anything with David Tenant.

I don't know how many of the shows that I've written about will last or even if I'll enjoy it beyond a few episodes.

I know the feeling.

Sense moving to Hawaii I have noticed something, TV shows, it does not matter if its news or sports or normal TV programming its all based on eastern time, we are 6 hours behind that. So if I want to watch a NFL football game I need to get up at 7am (not going to happen) to watch the Rachel Maddow show I need to turn on the TV at 5pm so I end up missing it most days. If I am watching TV late night I can start watching the Early Shows for the next day. Hence I don't watch much TV its just not on when I think it should be on.

The Bed Joke . . .

Ever since I was a child, I've always had a fear of someone under my bed at night.

So i went to a shrink.

“I've got problems. Every time I go to bed I think there's somebody under it. I'm scared. I think I'm going crazy.”

“Just put yourself in my hands for one year," said the Shrink. "Come talk to me three times a week and we should be able to get rid of those fears.”

“How much do you charge?”

“Eighty dollars per visit,” replied the doctor.

“I'll sleep on it,” I said.

Six months later the doctor met me on the street.

“Why didn't you come to see me about those fears you were having?" He asked.

“Well, Eighty bucks a visit, three times a week for a year, is $12,480.00. A bartender cured me for $10.00. I was so happy to have saved all that money that I went and bought me a new pickup truck.”

“Is that so?” He replied with more than a little attitude he said, “. . . And how, may I ask, did a bartender cure you?”

“He told me to cut the legs off the bed. Ain't nobody under there now!”

THE NEWSROOM was a sensational show when it started but then it went on and on in one word - - bickering.

I watched the second episode of the last season and it had whole roomfuls and scenes of pairs, triplets, quartets, and quintets of people bickering with each other.

Maybe it's me and I am in a bad place for interpersonal interactions on the screen and I want a happy ending movie.

Yep, happy endings, maybe thats why I did not watch Titanic, a movie that took four hours to tell a story that in real life took 20 minutes and the band played on.

I am and have never been happy with everybody dies at the end. I want the hero to get his love at the end.

One of the best movies I have seen in the last month or so was 'Unstoppable' with Denzel Washington and Chris Pine. Its a story of a runaway train, it was action packed from the first minute of the film and continued through out. A very good movie had a happy ending and the boy gets the girl kind of ending.

UNSTOPPABLE is a good movie. Lots of action and believable script. Plus, the viewer can genuinely cheer for the good guys.

The real runaway train incident occurred years before in Ohio. All of the actions taken to stop the train are really possible.

UNSTOPPABLE creates a RR Line in Pennsylvania that doesn't exist but sounds so damn real. It helps to have the locations add to the movie and script.

Don't confuse this with RUNAWAY TRAIN which is an altogether different movie and quite a thriller in its own right. Beware though. RUNAWAY TRAIN is dark.

Voices from a Coma Issue #2 came out and I have a story in it.

THE ZOMBIE BLACKMAILERS OF PANOCADIA 3

It's not a metal story like Metalcrank in Voices #1

but SciFi set on a space station with the villain being Zombies. It's lots of fun.

The download is free

Download from SmashWords or as a PDF.

In fact, the PDF you can click and read online.

Two things:

1) there is a 30 minute comedy that I revile so much that I watched Melissa Harris Perry discuss rape at UVa over watching it. It is almost a visceral reaction of displeasure even upon seeing the listing on the Channel Guide. Something I really have to work on to get under control.

BTW - The show will remain nameless because my opinion isn't the only opinion in the world and if someone loves it and defends, I'd probably have bad thoughts about them.

2) SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS is a really fun movie about psychopaths and killing and doggie kidnappings and more killings and what it takes to make a good screenplay.

The ShiTzu and the Rabbit live happily ever after. Not so much for the psychopaths but then, are they really bad people?
