Arab Nights (imported) wrote: Sat Dec 14, 2013 7:04 pm The Doo Dah Parade is sort of a counter culture Rose Parade. The part I still remember was the Precision Lawnmower Marching Band. I propose something similar. We all fly to California for the MOMA MOI (Meeting of the Members at Moi's) and put on a Precision Cell Phone Marching Event. Complete with Valley Girl speak, wireless charging and aluminum helmets.

Don't forget to include singing Tesla coils: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgll-XTqcS4, without them this event would not be complete. And do not come close to them wearing your helmet, the result would be "interesting":D

Oh, don't worry about that!

Most of us here ALREADY have had our BRAINS FRIED, and it happened YEARS and YEARS ago...

Texting should be allowed on planes, but not talking on cell phones. Unless maybe they have a separate cell phone section at the very back of the plane the way they used to have a smoking section back in the day.

I agree, just what I want is some guy yacking for 5 hours on a flight.

Which reminds me, I must remember to take earplugs.

Perhaps, the cell phone section should be out on the wing. --FLO--

Just in, the FAA has said that there is no longer a problem with cell phones on planes, however Airlines would still need to approve it and the public has spoken, we hate the idea. So don't look for it to happen soon and if it does it will be text only no voice.

and that is the word.

RiverGSM does not properly connect with the phone moving faster than 250km/h, so no worries. Even if the base stations are directed up (and they are not), the phone would not register in the network.

And if the base station is in the plane - everything they need to do is just charge it as a roaming with appropriate prices :D, supply and demand. No talking achieved. Oh, even better would be delayed billing ;-). Make it a fine ;).

Oh, I am all for the cheap internet onboard.

PS. Here there is a limit on a one call length over a cell phone - I checked, after 50 minutes there is a forced disconnect.

Does anyone here think that phone service on a plane will be free? ? ? ? ?

If you do, please send your money to me, right now, all of your money, fast...

Chances are that the airlines will charge a nominal fee depending on the distance and duration of the flight (like $4.99 to $9.99) to activate the phone, WiFi and whatever else exists electronically..

Incidentally, European airlines already have free phone service on their planes because they shielded the electronics.

And if you think they wont charge for this, they charge for food, luggage, and everything else they can think of.

Here is another reason to fear the combination of Cellphones and Flying

Think of the future applications 😱

Y'never know. Witness the pilots who can't pilot because they are computer dependent !
