what does Eunuch mean to you as an identity term?

actually the question is what do you consider to be a eunuch. i answered honestly and really dont need someone who doesnt agree to make comments. you have your own opinion and if you really want others to see it, post it!!!

I agree, as a Eunuch, to me its simple, I am a castrated man.

I got a bit lost following what devi said, and then at what Rooster 17 said about what devi said.

But, be that what it may,

I am going to go with capital E Eunuch = testicles are missing, and small e eunuch = testosterone is missing and testicles are not missing.

As with all things in life, agree, disagree, come up with an alternative, don't even care.

It works for me, even if not you, even if I may be out of sync with the traditional historical and dictionary interpretations.

The only thing that is constant, is change. You just never know, maybe over time it might catch on. Or not.

I have mentioned this before, but it's been several years. I have used the prefix "Eu." for a long time now. To me, it's more fitting and very seldom am I asked the meaning. The wife and I use "Eu. & Ms." and we are comfortable with it. It's not a legitimate Eunuch prefix, but until one comes along it will work for me. Just a subtle way of publicly saying I'm a Eunuch.

Wikipedia indicates that "castrated" while normally used to refer to a man who has had testes removed,

that term is also used to refer to a female who has had ovaries removed.

I am just proposing that Eunuch (capital "E), be used to refer to a male or female who has been castrated.

And that the term eunuch (little 'e'), be used to refer to any person who still retains male and or female testes / ovaries, but for whatever reason their body does not manufacture male and/or female sexual hormones.

In my case, I would be an eunuch (little 'e') as my testes have not been removed, but they do not produce testosterone.

Whereas once I finally get castrated, then I would be an Eunuch, (capital 'E')

How silly and ridiculous. Am I not good enough in either my capital or lower case form, as contrasted with the other? I am an Eunuch and an eunuch - they are one and the same.

A male with low testosterone has hypogonadism. One without testicles is a eunuch. The terms are not interchangeable.

I am interested in the debates and dictionary references to define how we self identify. I would think there would be no right or wrong until we describe someone else. I am a eunuch of body and mind and not a man. I am a member of the third gender. That is my identity and since it is mine and only mine it is correct.

I have no testicles and mostly no scrotum.

technically that makes me a eunuch to most people.

I think that historically a Eunuch is someone who usually had the testicles removed as a punishment or as a means of control by an outside force (parents are included in that) Something to take away the potency of the male.

To me a eunuch is asexual. When I was younger I used to think it meant that the penis was gone as well. I do imagine that a eunuch's penis would be non-functioning. Mine is functional in a sexual way. Do I consider myself to be a eunuch then? Not so much.

I like the idea that I do not need to be defined. I think I still more or less identify as male.
