What is the biggest thing stopping you?

The only thing stopping me is family concerns, or should I say wife concerns. We are working on that and I hope she will come around to my way of thinking.

THE QUESTION (for the uncut):

So here's a serious question for everyone who truly believes that they want to either be castrated, penectomized, or have the opposite gender's genitals like me. I'm just asking out of curiosity: What is the number one concern that is holding you back from actually doing it?

1. Not sure if you really want it or not?

2. Financial? (can't afford it / don't want to spend that much money)

3. Afraid that you won't like it afterward, and will be stuck unhappy with it forever?

4. Afraid of surgical complications?

5. Afraid of after-effects? (things like tiredness, osteoperosis, and possibly having to take hormones afterward.)

6. Reproduction? (still want kids)

7. Sexual concerns? (still want sex, afraid change would destroy that)

8. Family concerns? (Afraid of what your family would think, and couldn't imagine explaining it to them.)

9. Social concerns? (Afraid of what others would think, don't want to be judged.)

10. Other reason not mentioned here.

11. None of the above. I'm doing it. All I need is a place to do it and the money to pay for it.

To me, it's more of #1, #2 and #4.

I am still not exactly sure what I really want

And I haven't told my boyfriend about this.

For me it is about a castration, which is a less drastic operation, also for the way I would look after the operation.

My points are # 1 and # 2. For me is # 1 related to # 5. I'm not so afraid about what others will think. I would hardly tell anybody and I'm not afraid of going to a nudist camping, and so forth. Probably people would not notice it and when they notice it there is a lot of respect for all the variations in how people's naked bodies look and there are many good reasons to be castrated, among others medical reasons.

Thinking about this I had to admit that I was afraid to speak about my desire for a castration with my general practitioner. Today I had the courage to raise the subject. He told me that he has two transgender patients in his practice, a Female to Male and a Male to Female, but he had never heard about Male to Eunuch transgender. He took me serious and promised to take a look at the online article "The Development of Standards of Care for individuals with a Male-to-Eunuch Gender Identity Disorder" that I got from Jesus and that I showed him. So there is an opening and I'll enter it with an open mind.

Yes a very brave thing and something I was not able to do. Other than saying it in passing to a doctor to gauge his reaction. Please keep us posted!

Thanks Tugon and Uncle Flo. I feel very happy and relaxed now by what I did. I don't know what the result will be, living with or without my balls. I told my GP that my coming out as gay was very difficult, that I have struggled so much with admitting and realizing some other desires and that admitting my desire for a castration was the most difficult of all. I think he believed me, while he knows me.

5. I don't have any good way to stay active enough as it is, blood pressure is kinda low, etc. I already spend most of my time grappling with akrasia, and it sounds like the mental side-effects of castration could worsen that.

Well, and I'm about 13 years too late for it to do what I want. (It was about three years after puberty that I discovered what castration does to testosterone, but I wasn't aware of the other side-effects at the time, so if I could have done so safely without having to tell anyone, I probably would have.).

Money and the ability to do it without going through my family (bleh) are both obstacles as well, but I kinda feel like a solution to the negative side-effects and a solution to the economic/independence parts would be closely connected.

I first became aware that those things were wrong for me and that I should have girl parts when

I was around 8 years old. I didn't know why boys and girls were different or what either's things

were used for at that time. I have had those feelings at one time or another ever since then.

2. Financial? (can't afford it / don't want to spend that much money)

I could somehow manage to find a way to pay for it. At this point it would have to be declared

medically necessary for my wife to agree even though she hasn't used them for four years.

3. Afraid that you won't like it afterward, and will be stuck unhappy with it forever?

I have had enough years to know that would not be the case for me. It might even allow me

more freedom in openly expressing my mixed sexuality.

4. Afraid of surgical complications?

For me to be permitted any surgeries they would have to be declared medically thus being

performed by qualified surgeons so that would not be a major concern.

5. Afraid of after-effects? (things like tiredness, osteoperosis, and possibly having to take hormones afterward.)

Don't see that being a major concern. The main thing would be getting my wife to agree to estrogen (instead

of testosterone) and getting my doctor to prescribe it.

6. Reproduction? (still want kids)

My children are adults and there is no desire for us to have any more.

7. Sexual concerns? (still want sex, afraid change would destroy that)

Not a concern as we no longer have sex due to my wife's dryness and pain from penetration.

Only family concern is with my wife - she would object except in case of it being medically necessary.

Thus that limits my possible choices to castration and penectomy with urethra relocation. Other family

is not an issue as there is only my elderly mother and my sister and they would not have to know as

and female mode which would be difficult for to accept.

Nobody else would have to know the difference unless I would choose to make them aware.

Q p2.) Did that concern prove to be true or not once it was over?

Q p3.) (if you really feel like being a friend and answering:)) How in the world were you able to tell the people you love about it? (THIS is the issue that is tearing me up inside, making me feel so confused.)

That is a real concern for me with respect to my wife. I would like to be able to take on a more feminine

roll openly with her in both private and public situations. That is my biggest concern and stopping point.

Age is also a drawback but many things can be overcome where that is an issue if I can do it soon.

Again, I'm just hoping to see what other people's thoughts on the matter are, and hopefully gain some insight into my own situation through the wisdom of others.

The main issue for you if you feel that it is right for you should be timing. Do it while you are still young

when your options are greater and you will have longer to enjoy your new life.

As you can see I have done it. I have no concerns of what others will think. What is done is done... Now just to cut off the penis. Hopefully soon. Considering the fact that I have gotten full help from my insurance and urologists in this I am very happy
