OH for a lb of See's Butter Creams mmmmm.
I miss very few things from California, Butter Creams from See's is one of them.
Also and I don't know if they are even still in business but in SFV there were three hot dog stands, one was in Van Nuys, Cupids. Best chili dog on the planet.

BTW although I like Russian cocoa the best as it dissolves better then any and has as good a chocolate flavor as any cocoa. I dislike Russian chocolate. Poor "mouth melt" effect because it is so hard. As chocolate covered bird's milk it is a great treat.
MoiI have never seen here chocolate covered ginger. On the other hand sugar coated one is relatively easy to find.
As for cocoa, that was an antidepressant during winter...

It's called candied ginger or crystallized ginger. Any decent supermarket has it in the spice isle (both Schilling and Spice Island have it) or possibly in the baking supplies.

Ok, Ginger.
The trick is to find it in a plastic bag at some Trader Joes or Asian Supermarket then to pay dear for a small amount ala Spice Islands.

I could eat chocolate covered ginger all day. Plain crystallized or candied ginger is available in the bulk food section of some grocery stores here. I tend to eat it like popcorn, so don't buy it that often.

Traditional Moca Recipe:
Cup of hot coffee (light).
Stir in two spoons cocoa powder.
Sprinkles of ginger and cinammon and dash nutmeg (anise).
Spoon of sugar and a shot of rum.
DON'T don't ruin it with milk!!!

That Purdy's site looks enticing. I wonder how they would stack up against See's that I can buy fresh from the counter. I've noticed that Taucher's, Godiva and See's prepackaged items are "older" then fresh from the counter at the same store.
On review of the other sites, has anyone experience with Aussie ginger that looks regular and round and cost a bunch more.
Generally I am conservative on black pepper and use a fresh ground pepper mill product. A friend came back from Thailand and gave me a plastic bag of Thai black peppercorns. With my tremulous and usually break stuff hands I used an empty store bought pepper mill that was empty of peppercorns and added some Thai ones. I like them more. Like better wine, full flavor with less 'distractions'. Everyone likes the Thai more except a Thai friend who likes the American labeled ones more. Thai, Aussie or generic ginger?
Speaking of Thai, highly recommend SangSom Rum. So smooth people who say they never sip hard liquor like it.
Chocolate: Watch for Asians offering traditional Chocolate stuff. How traditional can it be?

I can't say I've ever tried See's, but I can vouch that Purdy's is pretty good chocolate. About my only complaint with them is that they tend to be premium-priced. They are local though, so it is fresh.
