Hello.

Sorry I really have no fucking opinion about fucking planets.

I am just back after a hiatus and am hijacking this thread to test if I can post using the new cool tools that were not available back when.

My avatar is my back when. I hope you like it.

I am calmer now, so I am sorry that I said fucking about the planets. Sometimes people orbit before they fuck though, so maybe I am slightly on topic.

Maybe Pluto got fucked out of planetary status, that would be on topic.

I think that we should go ahead and welcome Pluto back into our fold now. Perhaps they haven't been orbiting the way we'd like them to. And okay, so I know that the Plutonians had wreaked a lot of havoc and destruction with that plutonium of theirs and I know that they've been rather antisocial, staying to the back, and not at all participating fully with the group, being so far out of the center of things and yes it is true that they can be really cold sometimes but it has to be pointed out that they ARE a small planet and well, think of how you'd feel if you were that size and about to find yourself next to Jupiter or Saturn. I mean they are HUGE compared. So maybe it really wasn't Pluto's fault after all and it probably would be a good thing to give them another chance. Besides the more the merrier, so I really think we should probably go ahead and let Pluto become a planet again.

We like to think the universe is more organized than it is: that there are clear distinctions among planets and moons and Kuiper-belt objects; that mammals are clearly defined; that plants and animals comprise all that lives; etc. Nature is not so yielding to our neat taxonomies. Along comes a Pluto or a duck-billed platypus or a virus or a fungus or a bacterium and we scramble to determine which (totally arbitrary) category we are to put them in. Who decreed that the categories we've invented are ones nature is obligated to recognize?
