You need to know in advance that you have a healthy liver. Even then, long term use of this chemical can cause liver problems so you need to have your liver monitored periodically. I did not get results until I was using 100mg two times a day. The side effect of loosing libido and all sexual interests and ability were most satisfactory. But the cost and risk of unhealthy side effects ultimately made me decide to stop using the drug and pursue an alternative path to achieve the desired end result (which can be viewed in my profile and blog). In addition, if you decide to stop using this drug you must slowly "ween" yourself off of it over a period of several weeks. I can't explain why, the explanation is in the mfg. literature that comes with the drug.

I started taking Androcur twice a day 50mg each as well estradiol. Within 6 weeks my T was down to 52 ng/dL. Sorry, no idea was it was before. Within 2 weeks time beard growth was down by half from needing to shave every day to every other. Things down below practically dead. I could force the situation to an orgasm with only a slight dribble. SHortly after that other effects became noticeable like my skin drying up, no more oil well face and nose. Eyelids also felt thinner or more sensitive. Shaving was getting close to every 3 days

Two months later my T barely dropped to 49. I was still doing 2x 50mg Androcur as well as estrogen. By then a the estrogen was hitting my system full bore compared to all my past experience, even with Spiro. My body hair got a lot thinner and sparser, my face filled out some even though by this time I had dropped 30 lbs. Down below it was no more wishfull thinking my testicles were getting smaller, as well as mostly insensitive. A total change from teh hyper sensitive they were. It is impossible to say about my penis as it has been totally flaccid. Perhaps smaller and less full if I really work on it but so not worth the pain. A girlfriend happened to notice my top through a tee shirt and commented on what a nice set I had! A nice A to full A and better then I ever got to in the past.

At month 3 I dropped the Androcur dose down to 2x 25mg a day or 50mg total. The pills split in half easily. Dropping the dose had zero effect with my T so low and E high up in the female range. After another 2 months I further dropped the Androcur down to a total of 25mg/day. After a month at that dose I stopped the andro completely. This was a total time of 6 months taking a T blocker. After that I ran on estrogen.

Only after cutting back on estrogen has things turned for the worse. First was the horrible difference in body odor, then the oily skin started up, including zits. Mentally I was turning into a mess back to hating myself, all that I have been doing, and worse of all erections starting up again. What started as an experiment to help my mood a year earlier was a success so naturally I figured I can start tapering down. Ha! In the space of a month I went from totally loving the new me to totally hating myself and the ugly beast I was destined to turn back into. So I am back to doing Androcur 2x 25mg a day as well as upping my estrogen dose. A few days later feeling a lot better about myself again.

Aware (and beware) of the potential side-effects I dared to raise the dosage to 25 mg a day after a couple of weeks. I've been taking it now 25 mg/day for ~10 days, with no remarkable reduction in libido. I'm also having no side-effects, but as said, no use of this low a dosage either. Is there a chance the 25 mg will eventually produce some effect during the course of time or do i need to raise it to 50 mg to get the wished effect (i.e reduction of libido without feminizing effects)?

25-50mg as a starting dose is way to low. You should start at a 100 and work your way down after several months.

I've been on 50mg a day (one pill split, every 12 hours) for about six months and it works just fine for me. No spontaneous erections, very little wandering eye (I used to stare at women far too much) and virtually no desire to dig out the porn. I can still get it up if I want, but orgasm only produces a clear dribble at best.

Need to get my T-levels checked, but I'd be surprised if they were very high. Just have to remember to NOT let my doctor give me a T shot for my "condition".

And you have noticed no side-effects (i.e. undesired effects) so far ?

I have 2 questions about Androcur 50.

1.How affects blood tests? I understand T level goes down but what about LH and FSH? Saying other words, is doc able to learn I use some antiandrogen or test result just can say to doc my testicles don´t work properly.

2.Can I drink alcohol when I take Androcur? I mean just 1-2 beers.

A common doctor´s question Is If you has been taking some medicine. If he don´t find an answer Is probably he send you to an endocrynologyst. He could guess some kind of Idiopathic issue that is causing hypogonadism or some pituitary problem . You could tell the doc that you had an accident and hit your testes. In that way you will deflect his mind from the idea of medicines.

It´s not advisable taking alcohol while you are on antiandrogens especially on androcur as you liver could over-charge.

OK, and is endocrinologist able to find out?
