My doc had to make extra injectionafter everything was numb, but I still felt pretty painful when it was cut. So many nerve endings in there. As the pain was bearable I thought about these countless boys who get cut without any anesthetics.

Right after the circ I was given painkillers to reduce the pain as anesthetics wore off, but I didn't use them intentionally, to see and feel how it feels. For few hours pain was pretty close to unbearable, but then it faded and went away. Only slight itching remained. That kind of pain you could feel only once in your life :)

The frenulum is difficult to make numb. I removed my own frenulum a number of years ago and it was painful indeed! I have come to the conclusion that it can not be completely numbed, so the pain must be endured or a more comprehensive anesthetic needs to be used. --FLO--

I had my circ done around the age of 35. I was not fond of my foreskin throughout my childhood due to schoolboy taunts..."what's wrong with your dick?"..."hey come look at this guy!" It was mortifying at the time. I had a dick that looked like a "pineapple" to me (in my 6 yr old "mind") while everyone else had a nice smooth round "silo" (we lived in farm country!) Mine was all shrivelled up...I didn't get it that I just had to pull back the skin but it never stayed like that anyway. When real sex entered the picture I had real issues with that damn foreskin...and then there is that one word most dreaded in my vocabulary..."SMEGMA!" Gawd awful stuff...stinks like Limburger cheese. It required several washings each day to keep that at bay...but I digress...

I did not get a super tight cut...I did not know that was even an option or I would have gone for it. However, I was ecstatic with the outcome. The hype about all the nerves and sensitivity lost with the foreskin was just a no-show for me...not an issue. Having a smooth hot cock made me much hornier that that old FS ever did!

hey all, quick update -

The doctor has spoken to a couple of anesthetic experts and they are of the opinon that a general anesthetic is needed, as benzocaine is apparantly in the same chemical group as licodaine and means that its unlikely to work on me. Thus he needs to sort out a general anesthetic setup for me. The one he proposed using (diprovan I think) has a 10-15% of a severe allergic reaction and so needs doing in full theatre setting with support available.

I should probably clarify the nature of the operation. It was being done by a friend of a friend who is a qualified doctor, but being done off the record due to the fact that I want it tighter than the NHS allows and the NHS has *long* waiting times. However, to get the general anesthetic, it seems we'll have to through the official channels. As such, I need to go on his client list, and join the waiting list (lovely socialised medicine here in the UK). That may take a while. Thus my penis is still uncirced :( Hopefully, when the operation does eventually happen in an official setting, given he is the one holding the scapel, he'll be able to ignore NHS circ regs and do it tightly :)

Given he is geographically distant from me, and I've been unable to contact him since this all came to light, I'm going to persue a local circumcision option as well. I think I'll go to the Manchester GUM, complain of a tight foreskin, and ask to be circed. Assuming I can persuade them to do that, come the circ, they'll realise that lidocaine doesn't work and that general anesthetic is needed. Then I can get at least some kind of circ done on me. As a bonus, I should then know which general anesthetic is safe to use on me and so can then tell my doctor friend, and he can tighten the circ up for me.

I hear what you're saying about wanting a tight circumcision, but bear in mind that the tighter you're cut, the greater the amount of scrotal skin that gets pulled forward when you get hard. Ie. you'll get a lot of 'turkey neck'. I don't like that effect, and if I had my time over I'd ask for a circumcision that leaves a tube of skin long enough to fit my erect shaft, even if it means having a little roll of skin when flaccid.

Yeah, that is deffo a good consideration to keep in mind. Another reason why I didn't contact the NHS first (apart from waiting and issue of if I can actually persuade them to circ me) is that I want a frenulumectomy and the NHS will not do those. Assuming I can get a circ done on the NHS, I'll know what anesthetics are safe and can get my doctor friend to tighten it up and do the frenulumectomy.

I paid for my circumcision. As far as I know you can only get it on the NHS if you have a medical need, ie. phimosis.

As regards the frenulumectomy: I had already cut my frenulum several years previously, so it no longer pulled my cock head over when my foreskin was pulled back. However, there were folds of frenulum skin still there. But after my circumcision the skin in the cleft under of my cock head was smooth.

Ah thats nice - thats exactly how I want mine to look. Can you give a head-up (pardon the pun) on what clinic you used? I need one that has the facilities to use general anesthetic, as licodaine/benzocaine do not work on my penis, so that pretty much rules out local anesthetics.

My circumcision was done in 1985. My GP (family doctor) referred me to a surgeon (now retired) who worked at the county Hospital. I went to see the surgeon at his private office, and I was scheduled to be circumcised in the operating theatre in the county hospital. As a private patient I was given a separate room rather than being allocated a bed on a ward.

You could ask your doctor to refer you to a surgeon in the same way as I did. I had to pay a fee to the surgeon, and another to the hospital for the night in the room plus the anesthesiologist. Get a quote up front. You could also approach a private hospital (Bupa, etc.) or look in the Yellow Pages for surgeons in your area and approach them directly. There's plenty of choice.

I had a mini snip of the membrane underneath the glans. Excellent result means that I can hang my knob end out on nudist beaches etc or keep it underwraps for comfort. Masturbation is definately better and wife used to like it more when we had sex. sadly that is now long gone so thinking of getting the big snip

I had my circumcision when I was the ripe old age of a few days, in other words I have been circumcised all my life, and don't know any other way (71Yrs)
