It's interesting to me that you have a spouse, so do I, my spouse/wife is very supportive and actually likes that I'm a eunuch. She says that's because I try to please her more than I did when I was intact and I give her more attention. She says it's also true that my emotions are more compatible to hers now.
There are a lot of personal things that I could tell you, but it's intimate sexual personal stuff, but if you want to ask me a private question, I'll try to answer it.

Well it's been five weeks since my surgery. There's been no complications, few if any side effects (maybe the occasional hot flash). I have almost no sexual desire, which is great, but other than that my life is pretty much the same, there's been no profound transformation. I could sure go for some of that magical eunuch calm

. I'm happy with what changes there have been though, and very happy with my body's new appearance.

Thanks for the update. For someone your age you don't seem to have the sharp T drop that young new eunuchs experience... do you know what your T levels were before castration?

Jeezus, it took me like 9mos after my castration for my sexual desire to hunker down. Lucky you.

I had below average T levels prior to castration, so the drop perhaps wasn't as extreme in my case. In terms of libido the difference was very noticeable after a week. However I still do have sex dreams maybe once or twice a week. Hormonal influence in that regard will probably me much more gradual, I expect.

The time for libido to drop after castration or starting anti T drugs is greatly variable according to experiences I have read here. It leads me to a thought that T is not regulating libido directly. Sure, testosterone supports libido, only via other mechanisms that we are not aware of yet.
Other indirect proof could be that libido is not connected to T-levels very directly. One could have pretty strong libido having relatively low T-level like 350.
Has anyone seen any medical texts that tries to explain source of libido? Is it even studied by modern science?
If there really is a separate 'libido mechanism' then perhaps it could be possible to reduce or increase libido without playing with T-levels, thus having no negative effects from castration like osteoporosis, energy loss, fat gaining, lower metabolism, hot flashes...

Testosterone alone is the single sexual hormone in the body, both men & women. Estrogen is not a libido enhancing hormone, estrogen will not give you sexual desire. Men & women both have testosterone and when the testosterone levels drop due to age, menopause, or castration, the libido drops too. Getting back your libido then requires the addition of testosterone, which is why a lot of gynecologists are giving older women testosterone in creme or gel form.

Really? My experience does not show this. My testosterone levels are a tad bit lower than the lowest normal (i.e. pre-menopausal) female limit, and I'm on ERT. If I up my estrogen dose my libido can increase quite a lot (to the annoying level). I guess it is different for men and women. T gives sex. drive for men, and while it plays certain role in libido for women, it may be estrogen, that has more influence on this.

I think it is not a lot of gynecologists, but some. A lot of gynecologists say T is not needed. There are some data that T has limited benefits for women (except some cases, I guess this is pretty much individual) with a lot of side effects (potential lowering of the voice, increased body hair growth, acne, etc.)

Or maybe the more E you put in your body, the more your body pumps out T to counteract it, therefore jumping up your libibo.

If your are castrated, you can't pump out testosterone. Estrogen alone will give libido for castrated males or women, it will not be I want to poke it with my dick, it will be I want to be poked
