I have read many articles on speed versus safety and the only organization that has proven that speed is dangerous is the government. Every independent study has proven that in most cases speed is not a factor in accidents. Also, I read that in 90% of traffic accidents speed is not listed as a factor on the accident report. So what gives? It's all about money, it's an easy way to collect money without actually adding more taxes.

The most fun I had speeding was several years ago in Florida. My boss and I were driving from Ocala to West Palm Beach and he was in a hurry. After we passed Kisimmee on the turnpike he said he was going to take a nap in the back seat and asked me to drive his big Mercedes. He told me to set the cruise control to 160 kmh (100 mph). In that heavy car it didn't seem that fast. I timed some of the trip - 80 miles in 50 minutes or 96 mph. The fun part was knowing that he would pay the fine if I got pulled over.

He may have paid the fine, but the ticket would be on your record, along with the higher insurance rates down the road. Damned tickets are expensive. My insurance is finally coming down after 3+ years without any ill-timed tickets...

100mph...that's barely halfway through the gears these days! Now if you were driving a golf cart, that would be impressive.

Just have a way to ensure that caddy doesn't overload your unit with clubs and balls!

Local police had a mobile speed trap camera van on the side of a 3 lane motorway. So what you say ..... So it was very very foggy. I doubt they could get the numberplates of speeders if there were any. At least they would be on hand to clear up the wreckage when someone hit the brakes because the van suddenly loomed into view in the fog and caused the usual pavlovian reaction of .... shit... cops.... brake . The guy behind would mistake brakes for fog lights or not see them and crunch. They should be ashamed... safety camera my ass.. they could not give a stuff . No wonder people dont take them seriously anymore. I have seen it there in driving rain and high winds too but thick fog. I know you can say that speeders in these conditions deserve to be caught but at what cost to the others.
