which is in contrast to what Autism Speaks spews out daily. They want people to believe that autism= suffering because by doing that they can get money which helps them gain power to obtain more money and power and so on. I believe if given the authority and means they would kill every autistic person in the world then use some sorryCastroboi (imported) wrote: Thu Feb 19, 2009 9:14 pm 75660]
autistic people have asperger's syndrome

excuse like we did it to put them out of their suffering.
Castroboi,
No, you've got the math wrong...
The CDC *does* estimate a 1 in 150 rate of autism, but there are some caveats to that (I'll get to those a little later).
Let's just say we have a population of 1 million people. If 1 in every 150 is autistic, then we'd have 6667 autistics in that population. If 1 in every 250 of the 6667 autistics is an Aspie, then we'd have 27 Aspies out of that 1 million people. (The proportion is actually higher)
In the 'autistic spectrum', there are 5 conditions included: Autism (Kanner's Syndrome), Asperger's Syndrome, Rett's Syndrome (affects females almost exclusively; male fetuses don't generally live until birth), Childhood Disintegrative Disorder, and Pervasive Developmental Disorder - Not Otherwise Specified. Part of the reason that the 1 in 150 figure came about is that in keeping their records, CDC has combined all 5 of the Autism Spectrum Disorders, using *that* total to get the '1 in 150' figure!
There are other things that have added to the figure, as well. We've simply gotten better at *detecting* autism as researchers have found more about it. One *very* important point, too, is that schools are given special-needs funding based on the number of autistic students; thus they have an *incentive* to have kids diagnosed as autistic, whether or not those kids actually are. I'd put a *lot* of money that when parents say their kids were 'cured', those kids were probably mis-diagnosed to begin with...
I have *serious* issues with Autism Speaks, in much the same way as Jews have serious issues with Nazis! (NOTE: Godwin's Law doesn't apply here)
Autism Speaks is *not* a friend to autistics, plain and simple! Their ad campaigns have scapegoated us, presenting a *horrendously* negative image! The worst offender is their video, "Autism Every Day", a sick-making piece of filth that never should have seen the light of day! In the video, autistic kids are presented in the *worst* possible light - it was later found that Lauren Thierry (a 'filmmaker' who's nothing but an ugly cunt with a camera) had told the parents to not comb the kids' hair, not clean up their homes, keep the kids from any daily therapy, etc., so they'd look as bad as possible - with the sickest moment being a lady named Alison Tepper Singer (who makes over $150,000 a year as an executive Vice President in AS) talking about how she wanted to *kill* her autistic daughter by driving off the George Washington Bridge, and that the only reason she *didn't* do it was because she had a 'normal' daughter to take care of!!!
That's *beyond* bullshit!!!
Autism Speaks' flagship 'research project' is finding a way to do pre-natal genetic screening for autism, something that doesn't sound too bad at first. Of course, it's not *supposed* to...
Some time back, a genetic screening test was developed for the Trisomy 21 gene, the most common form of Down's Syndrome. Since that time, over 90 percent of fetuses testing positive have been aborted!!!
And that's what Autism Speaks wants to do to *us*! They want the idea of having an autistic child to be *so* repugnant that *no* parent would want to have one!
Those bastards *have* to be stopped!!!
