There is a general slaming of Christians everywhere and especially here. A few Christians have made a bad name for the rest of us by basically twisting everyone's arms to believe the same as they do. So people categorize every Christian as the same and develop a dislike for them. Guys like Luvpain99 and I, have always made it a policy to never preach or twist others arms. I was just making the point of not all Christians preach, some of us just lay back and let you see how we live.

Unfortunately, somewhere along the line, the name of this group "Enuch Archives" has been lost in this discussion. I won't propose to put forward to any of you what my religious beliefs are or are not. It would inappropriate to do so.

This Archive is not a forum that is based on the topic of religion, pro or con, of any of the many religions that exist.

An observation was made that most of the heated discussion in this thread have centered around Christianity. Since the dominant religion in the country is Christianity, is will have the largest number of both proponents and opponents.

When it comes to the Archive, leave religion where it belongs, outside the door. Discussing religion here is not the appropriate forum. and no one will swayed by any arguments to the contrary about the validity or non-validity of any religion.

Even though this started as a "JOKE" thread, it quickly spun out of control, and became much too serious for many of the participants here.

The only time I refer to "Jesus" in when I am referring to one of our fellow members.

Again, when it comes to the Archive, leave religion where it belongs, outside the door. This is the wrong forum for it.

I see this thread has been appropriately moved to the cellar. It certainly no longer belonged in the Joke thread. Of course, Christianity will be the most discussed religion in the Western World, since it's the dominant religion here. If anything, though, people on this board are more critical of the Muslim religion. I don't think I've heard anyone say anything good about it.

If you see a joke about Jesus, and you're a Christian, don't read it. You have to know it might upset you. That doesn't mean the rest of us can't make such jokes. If we have to tip toe around those on this board that are Christians, then our freedom of expression is restricted. These jokes were so innocuous that I don't see how anyone was offended. I scarcely take myself seriously. I can't even begin to take a religion such as Christianity - or any other organized religion - seriously. If it helps, I think they are all equally flawed. I flat don't understand how anyone can believe in any of them.

If I were to choose any religion, I would choose Buddhism, because it's a belief in a way to live one's life, not a belief in a mythical supreme being. No war has ever been waged in the name of Buddha, as far as I know.

I never bow to political correctness in such matters as this. I don't bow to hurt feelings in this - don't wear them on your sleeve if they are so vulnerable.

Politics, Religion, and Sex are the largest sources of humor around - Western as well as Eastern hemispheres. It is a fact of life. Get over it.

One of the principles upon which the political and especially the cellar forums were established was essentially any topic is OK with a "no holds barred" approach - within the limits of civility (read: no flaming). If you don't like it, don't read it; but don't tell me I can't post it or think it or whatever, or that I am terrible if I do - because then you are usurping my being.

I would suggest some folks learn to live their own lives and not everyone elses.

Enough of my disgust.

It is amazing what jesus freeks can come up with and I also agree that being politicaly correct is not necessary on most sites.Being a retired carpenter I was recently working for some Pentacostals.They had both recently found jesus and I had not heard " I did not know he was lost".THey both were cured one had cancer and the other some back problems.I did mention what Einstein had stated about childish superstitions.

History does not record anywhere at any time a religion that has any rational basis. Religion is a crutch for people not strong enough to stand up to the unknown without help. But, like dandruff, most people do have a religion and spend time and money on it and seem to derive considerable pleasure from fiddling with it.

Perhaps not; but there were expansionist Buddhist empires in (for example) India, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and Indonesia. The Tibetan Buddhist hierarchy have for the most part managed to suppress many of the nasty details of their feudal theocracy, before the naughty Chinese wandered by, but it wasnt particularly pleasant for the majority of the lay Tibetans.

I tend to go along with the Epicurean Tetrapharmakos [the four-fold cure], which has been put into a song (by a fellow Australian):
