The last great drought here in this area was 1936, when the local creek went dry. Since then, it's just been hot, dry summers, mostly, with the problems really starting around 1978 or so. That's the first year I can recall not having to cut grass, as it all died.

Heard the radio announcer say: Beautiful weather for Father's Day with temperatures in the low 100s. Sigh. Spring must be over.

Paolo - did farmers get their fields planted? Seems like periodically they go thru that drama.

About half of the fields around here are done, and those that the relentless "breeze" could hit dried out to the point that the seedlings were wilting already. Now we've got torrential rain again today, and calling for it the rest of the week. We'll see. A lot of the lower fields are underwater now.

We are having a below average June in the UK.

There is talk on the TV that it might break a few records for its wetness.

We are currently sat in a huge Low pressure area that has quite a large part of Western Europe under its control.

Eastern Europe seems to be having a great time with a huge area of High pressure blocking any movement of our weather system.

It's raining again. My grass is a foot tall. I will have to buy a hay rake, I think, to pull behind a pontoon mower.
