Great series of rainstorms here.
I believe I got over 6" over the several storms.
Two daily readings were near 2.5 inches and several days of over 1"
This is contrary to "their" official reports, but my reliable rain glass was not filled with tap water.
Watching for my seeds to sprout.
BTW
CBS tells me my rain is heading to create miserable cold temperature and storminess
in the Midwest, including Western Pennsylvania. @Dave - please share.
How about the EA :hearthrobLand? "Fargo" country.

Dave is disgusted.
Every six hours the weather forecast changes. I listen to the local news and their weathermen and every six hours the forecast changes. It will snow sometime this weekend. Chances are that it will also rain this weekend, too. Most likely both.
Here's the reason - - The weather between the Appalachian Mountains and Lake Erie, TO be specific in my case - Between the bottom of Pennsylvania (that flat border is the Mason Dixon Line) and Lake Erie a few hundred miles to the North, Cold snow weather systems can move to the North of Pittsburgh - - and from Butler PA up to Lake Erie gets snow. IT always seems to snow above Route 80 (the interstate that crosses northern Pennsylvania.
Going south from Butler PA through Pittsburgh (Allegheny County) and into Washington and Westmoreland County can stay warm and get only rain. And once again the Interstate highway - Route 70 - is the dividing line.
Also, the higher elevations of the Appalachians to the east of Pittsburgh - - Look for Uniontown, New Stanton, Connellsville, Homer City - - always get snow because they are colder.
SO there is this pocket of land that is almost impossible to forecast where the snow line or rain line will move.
Also, the distance between Butler PA in the north and Washington PA to the south of Pittsburgh, is roughly 55 miles. That's a very narrow strip of land.
It's about midnight Friday crossing the hour into Saturday and six hours ago, the forecast had snow on Saturday in the late afternoon. I just looked on the forecast right now the forecast is mostly rain all day Saturday - an inch maybe. Sometime Sunday there will be snow and it might not occur until about 2:00am Sunday and stop by sunrise.
Now that's why I don't talk about weather - - the forecasting is (to me) a pile of excrement.

CBS News say you will get 16" of snow and your governor has declared a disaster already.
Oh and of course those sub freezing temperatures.
Please share your on the spot observations Saturday & Sunday.
Is it like, "Winter Is Coming" time and a Monster Storm as CBS News wants me to believe?

A) I don't do videos on my phone or computer. . .
B) That heavy snow will fall North of Pittsburgh across northern Pennsylvania. The Governor is correct to call out that as an emergency.
C) That snow is at least 50 miles north of me, maybe more.
D) Here's the Accuweather article from 5:00pm Friday https
blizzard-to-dish-out-up-to-40-inches-of-snow-in-northeastern-us-as-dangerous-ice-storm-takes-aim-farther-south/70007187
And I'm in that light blue 1"-3" band.
E) Here's the WTAE weatherman with the forecast. If you look on his maps, the letter "g" in the city name "Washington" PA is just about above my house.
https://www.wtae.com/article/winter-sno ... y/25952432
I'm not going to get the bad stuff. I'm happy. I am not planning to even open my garage door tomorrow until Tuesday or Wednesday. No driving
Anything north of Pittsburgh is going to get walloped.
That's how narrow the weather bands between snow and rain where I live.
And if you look at the ICE FORECAST maps in the WTAE report, you can see the general shape of the appalachian mountains to the east of Pittsburgh.

And that's what happened.
I have less than an inch of snow which I am certain has ice underneath.
To the west of where I live in Washington PA (10 miles west) friend report 2 to 3 inches.
About 15 miles to the north (and still a mile or two south of the Ohio River) has 2 inches (a relative sent me a picture).
North of the Ohio and Allegheny rivers got walloped.
East to the mountains got more snow.
There are dozens of school, church, social organizations, closings all around Pittsburgh.
Worse: It's only 18degrees F out there, too. So salting the ice won't melt the ice on the roads. And TOMORROW, the high temperature will be in the single digits Fahrenheit.
I suspect the roads are like a demolition derby or a "bump and crunch" festival of bad

@Dave
Your forecasting skills are noted. BRAVO!
When will the O.C. next witness rain?
I lived in Milwaukee 2 years.
I know the lake effect made those 2 Winters lite compared to Madison, some 50 miles west where their winters were more like St Paul / Minneapolis. But, the second winter, my finger joints got red & swollen although I was over dressed. Even a "warm" home and occasional Steam Baths at the Jewish Center did not keep the cold out for long. I returned to S. California realizing I was not made for "cold".
HOW DO YOU MANAGE IN SUCH COLD?
Gray sky of a rain that was not predicted nor occur. It did happen northward.
My zinnia flower seeds sprouted in 3 days
Waiting on corn over 1 week.
Waiting on sweet shelling peas over 2 weeks.
Got some sprouted garlic I think I will put in the ground.

We've been doing -10 to +10 for the last few days, locally just light dusting of snow, although other parts of the state have been hammered with heavy snow. Just staying warm.

It's going above 50F tomorrow ... and then Thursday it will be back to the single digits at night.
I don't explain this shitty weather and its changes. I just suffer through it.

When I lived in Milwaukee
it got up to 50F one miraculous January Weekend.
It was like T shirt weather it felt so warm.
Then it went back down, down, down.
That day in T shirt weather did feel good.
