Better the those fires of summer.
A lack of herbivores.
What happens when a group kills off the "brush eaters".
Imagine contracting grazing rights to create
fire break corridors with cattle or sheep or goats.
Goat meat is now available in Southern California markets,
in some n'hoods. It is good and less distinctive than lamb.
The City of Laguna Beach, California has found
renting goats is cheaper than hiring Mexicans
to maintain brush control
Wild Fires - Bring back the brush eaters!
Here, the temperature and weather events remain as
moderate as moderate can be.
How I wish for some weatherful events.
Lacking mine, please share yours. Flood. Freeze. Whatever.

Nothing glamorous for me. Rosa set up about a month of monsoon-like weather. Then woke up one day maybe two weeks ago and it clearly was fall. Jacket weather in morning, but days nice. It has been such a gradual fall that leaves turn in sequence by tree species. Not the great BAM of fall colors. Lots of trees are still green. I remember Halloween trick-or-treating with kids in a parka. Not this year.

Sea getting cooler so errr a bit refreshing but had beach to myself so went in only wearing my skin.
It saves on the washing afterwards and after its a clothing optional beach.

Autumn is warm today. 80F
with a slight tendency of winds from the deserts making the air dry.
No rain in sight. Send water
Some Saffron crocus bulbs are sprouting and the
pecans in there green husks are getting bigger and easier to see on the tree.
Just after T'giving, they should be ready.

Long, slow autumn. Temps in 60s. Aspens have turned and lost half their leaves, but still lots of green leaves on other trees.

No fires here. Occasional smoke from Malibu I guess.
Rain is scheduled for Thanksgiving Wednesday and Thursday.
Good planning.
My saffron crocus bulbs sourced from Holland are sprouting nicely.
Last year, the Chinese ones were a failure.
Pecans are more plentiful then ever and in the final stages of ripening with the husks opening revealing the pecan nut inside.
Cooling down and the cats sleep mightily.
Anyone caught in the Eastern Floods and Freezes?
Where's @Dave?

Hey, moi.
Glad to know you are doing well.
Jesus got burned out a long time ago.
Hope he is doing well, too.

So where is Dave?
As best as I can figure he's our most flooded a month or so ago, currently most chilled and
not heard from for so long.
Anyone here getting some Arctic experience ?
Remember those frozen sea turtles off the Atlantic coast are a harbinger of Global Warming. Think sling shot
Mellow, cool weather with a half inch of Thanksgiving rain.
One saffron flower with its' three deep red threads. I'm just watching and studying its' nature.
The bulbs in manure blended soil seem happiest.

Long, slow autumn. More a case of a sequence of one tree species turning, then another, then another rather than a brilliant splash of color with a quick shock of cold.

It's winter here now. Spitting snow and cold.
Moi, can you post a link to a photo online of a saffron flower? I did a search and all I get are purple crocus. Thanks.
