It's been 11 months since my visit with Dr. Arnkoff and I have no regrets over having the procedure done. Hard to say exactly what side effects might be caused by the castration as I also had some significant medical issues last year after the trip to Michigan. Now I'm not implying that I think those issues were related to the orchiectomy or caused by it, just that when other things go haywire with your health and you wind up in the hospital several times in short succession, it's hard to say which one made 'ya feel crummy....

I would suggest based on my experience, that you stay through Sunday and keep the ice packs going as they are only good for the first 48 hours. I left on Sunday and would up spending about 12 hours on airplanes and sitting in airports and I'm reasonably sure my recovery would have been quicker had I stayed put for that extra day.

Thanks for re-stating the importance of icing your empty bag and not rushing the recovery (I have set aside two weeks of vacation for the recovery). I do plan on staying for at least 4 or 5 days and stopping by the good Doctor for a post-op appointment before leaving Detroit.

Well if you're going to stay that long and ask for a "look see" before you leave, you could probably get the drains removed at that time. He tells you to leave the drains in for two to three days after the procedure. One of the guys I was talking with about his experience pulled his out on the 2nd day after the surgery, mine still seemed to be draining some on the 2nd day so I pulled them out on Tuesday which was the 3rd day.

He's also good about follow up via text or e-mail. I had some issues with what I thought was the incision not healing up as it should and he had me send him pics on several occasions which he would look at and let me know what he thought. Everything went as it should, just took longer for me than lots of folks here report. Possibly that was due to my age which was 61 and/or the fact that I still smoked at that point and smoking is known to impede healing.

I have responded to the myorchie website of Dr Arnkoff and have not heard from him yet and it's been 4 or 5 days. Should I call the number on the web site, or call the direct office number that I found on a Michigan Transgendered webstie? How much in advance will he allow you to schedule an appointment?

I've tried contacting Dr Arnkoff by the website and calling his office, but still no response after a week, anyone else having difficulty getting ahold of him?

I believe his mother just passed, and it may be the reason why.

I can't help but wonder what he and his staff look like.

His nurse, if he hasn't changed, is his daughter in law and very attractive. you can locate a picture of the doctor if you google him. make sure you find the younger dr. his father is/was a doctor too. that's the only two that have been there for the guys/eunuchs i know personally.

Just found out Dr Arnkoff has raised his price to $2500. Wish he would up date his myorchie web page. Be nice if there was a place for testimonials.
