This "up and down" weather is driving everyone nuts here, as well as wreaking havoc with sinuses, ears ,etc.

We're looking at 70's for a couple days, then 50, then rain, and probably cold and snow again next week.

I've been sick since I got home, and it just won't let up. My nose is red, my ears are popping, and I'm just a joy to be around! hehe

Not here at the desert by the sea.

Barely above 70 or below 55.

Chance of showers they say. But, they lie. 😠

The Sweet Green Shelling peas are about finished and to be replaced by fava beans that like to grow later in the year.

Apricot tree flowering and fruit has been dysynchronous and the loquats finished sweet. Trapping and relocating over 50 squirrils these last 2 years helped that outcome I believe.

Spinach in several locations has been a failure. Even if it does sprout, it grows a bit and yellows.

Saffron bulbs didn't work so good. Out of 50 I may have one plant. Source - China, like the spinach seeds.

It has been a cool Spring.

Hawaii volcano shoots lava into sky;

evacuations ordered

HONOLULU (AP) -- Hawaii's Kilauea volcano erupted Thursday, sending lava shooting into the air in a residential neighborhood and prompting mandatory evacuation orders for nearby homes.

Hawaii County said steam and lava poured out of a crack in Leilani Estates,

which is near the town of Pahoa on the Big Island.

Who among the E.A. retired just may be affected?

Could it be River?

Anyone got River updates

River reports that he's about 2-1/2 miles from the nearest vent to open. The bit of lava coming to the surface is moving very slowly and has, so far, moved only a few dozen yards from each of the current vents. He is uphill and beyond the current evacuation zone, though he has packed to be ready to evacuate, should it become necessary. He has already arranged to stay with friends, if he needs to leave home with his dog.

I'll go back to my tried and true favorite comment -- BIG ISLAND VIDEO NEWS has reports. Search for it and read or watch.

And as we saw last time Kilauea decided to make a show, the lava moves slowly and downhill. Hawaiian lava is thick and slow. You can walk away from it and win the foot race by several miles.

The Hawaiian civil defense authorities are watching and monitoring closely.

The current crop of earthquakes on the island are from the movement of lava underground.

The cracks in the asphalt roads are from the expansion caused by lava moving.

What happens when the lava gets close to the surface is that the jungle burns to black like carbon or charcoal. If the lava breaks the surface, it rapidly cools and turns solid. It looks like asphalt. It isn't often that anyone sees red-hot lava. Although that does happen.

Tourists are being turned away.

Drones are forbidden because they bring tourists.

This isn't Tommy Lee Jones in "Volcano" which is a rather trashy pop-corn movie suitable for the kiddies late Saturday night.

Nor is the "THE CORE" which is a pathetic travesty of science and one of the most emotionally stupid movies created for screen.

Most volcano eruption movies make the lava flow like water and that is not the case. It doesn't and never did.

One last thing -- Kilauea has been erupting since 1983 - yes that's an eight and a three. That's 35 years. And Kilauea is one of five shield volcanos that formed the Hawaiian islands.

It's not just about lava.

Oxygen displacing gasses count too.

PAHOA, Hawaii (AP) — The Kilauea volcano sent more lava into Hawaii communities Friday, a day after forcing more than 1,500 people to flee their rural homes, and authorities detected high levels of sulfur gas that could threaten elderly people and those with breathing problems.

A record 6.9 earthquake and sulfur dioxide gas too. Oh My!

Adding to the chaos, the island's largest earthquake in more than 40 years, a magnitude-6.9, struck near the south part of the volcano, following a smaller quake that rattled the same area.

The representative of the US Geologic Survey gave a ten minute talk (with pictures and videos) about the volcanic activity in the active area, how it develops and why. It is well worth seeing because it explains what this eruption looks like and how it will develop.

Oh really 🙄

And YOU, Dave, believe them.

Since your upload, more lava vents have appeared with Hollywood style shooting flames and lava.

As well as sulfur dioxide asphyxiating gas. River may have evacuated my now one way or the other. Ask Jesus.

IF you read pages back this thread you should find an upload or three regarding

how since the departed River diverted to Pahoa, there has been steadily increasing "activity".

The professed Pagan, River should see the connection and his calling to bring peace once more to Pahoa.

Just don't blame Moi
