Heading north for a short job. I managed to fit in crossing west across Death Valley - Saline Valley (which I love because of the grand vistas and stark scenery) and head north on 395 to Nevada along the eastern front of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Temps generally 65 - 72 deg.. So there was a cluster of cars at an overlook to the right. I thought they were just enjoying the overview. Wrong. BAM. It was Rainbow Canyon AKA Star Wars Canyon AKA Jedi Transition. Not often you can look down on a cockpit from the ground.

Ever see the Wildflowers.

Those times when rains are perfectly timed.

Doesn't happen but once in a while, but when it does it is like a desert valley is carpeted with wild flowers. Just gorgeous. I really enjoy - when not working - the rainy part of the cycle when Arizona looks like Kentucky, but with different scenery. It gets amazingly green.

I've caught the California Wildflowers when in full glory.

Back circa Spring, 1966, School sponsored trip for High School, Second Year Biology.

Amazing how the color carpets are just one flower such as poppies or lupens and not mixed.

Each to their own.

Equal on my list of spectacular is Prairie Creek State Park in Redwood National Forest, Fern Canyon trail.

Totally Jurassic. The California Rainforests seem confused with Yosemite over the red wood thing.

Gotta see it when it is misty or drizzle or rain when the banana slugs come out and the green perks up and you may hear the great trees talking to one another.

Here at the desert by the sea, more rain chances just evaporate.

I do believe I did get 2 mm of rain of that much as I could measure, over several hours

better than a quick gully washer of 2 mm.

Blossoms and fresh shoots are happening.

Something is eating my sweet shelling pea plants.

I suspect worm or grasshopper.

Same here. About a 40 degree (F) temperature swing in one day here.

Lot of ear/nose/throat problems too.

I experienced that in Milwaukee one winter in February. 50F felt so hot, it was T Shirt weather.

The way the building would creak, snap and groan with the temperature warm up was amazing.

Weather here, same, same, same. No rain. Sun and 70F.

We have snow and ice here in the UK, and nobody seems to know what to do… Apparently in some areas they’ve called the army in, but I can’t think that shooting at it will help much!

Fortunately rain’s forecast for next week, at least we understand that.
