To add to Kristoff's observation: I have measured 13.5 inches of snow in my back yard, luckily I have all day to dig out from under the snowfall (although with some of my infirmities it won't be so easy). --FLO--

We had three inches here last Monday. It shut the whole town down!

The last two winter weather alerts, the state and county did nothing, as with the one before, they prepped and treated all the major highways, and then the storm split and missed us. So now they've decided to not do anything, until it starts.

Of course, the county roads get nothing done, and very few roads in town do.

Quitcherbitchin now. One set of grandparents were Yuppers up on the iron range. I saw photos of them using second story windows for doors because of the snow depth and heard tell of walking to school every day where it was uphill into the teeth of a blizzard both coming and going. Now that was something to bitch about.

Today it was up to +59F here today. Snow is gone. Had a lot of fog the past few nights. No wonder everyone is sick with something.

Black's Beach ? ?

Yup. I remember back in the 70s when I was living in east Tennessee and was working a project out in Arkansas. After winter peaked, I would have the thought wondering if it was time yet as I drove out? The yellow crocus might be teasing, but it was not time yet until that wonderful trip when young colts and calves were kicking up their heels in green pastures and it finally was spring. In southern California it is less a case of calves and colts and more a case of the nude beaches being full of people after the chill has come off.

Just back from a quick trip to the Mohave Desert and 29 Palms. Almost sweaty at mid-afternoon. I used to go there for a really rare break from LA during college and have not been back for years and years. It made me smile to visit the 500 sq ft desert mansions on 1 or 2" concrete pads, teepees, geodesic domes and Amboy. Best of all was Mad Mike Hughes was setting up a few miles east of Amboy to launch his steam powered rocket on Saturday, 3 pm in support of truth, justice and the Flat Earth Society. Google it and I was told you can watch it live for a minor fee - like boxing.

The the desert has a beauty. Sad to see the suburban sprawl don'tchyathink?

Just an early California Spring with street lining non fruiting pear trees showing white blossoms.

We could use a March Miracle although the snow pack and reservoirs are okay. I'd just like to feel some rain.

The storms stall around central California. Usually due to warm ocean temperatures. Moi sez it is local geothermal off shore with earthquakes happening there that aren't driven by geo cold. ;)

Clear to partially cloudy days with temps around the high sixties. Low no lower than mid fifties.
