I see no reason for the author who refuses to further publish not be identified as I am he. Under the name Lew Troop, a name I found on the cover of an old paper back cowboy novel.

You should know a bit more. I have over the past two plus weeks submitted possibly twelve to fifteen stories all purpose written for the Eunuch Archive, they have almost no other purpose; My agent says that unless I write many more and we put out an anthology, don't bother to write them if they're not to be used here. As to my unwillingness to comply, I had been doing precisely what I'd been told to do; Writing them elsewhere and then sending them to the address that is carried under the New Stories banner and is where one is directed to send them. As to the long list of sins I apparently committed, I have no time to even figure some of them out. I was offered a Beta, something I'd not heard of, to edit me-apparently my quality wasn't good enough; Read a few yourself and decide. A further crime was my failing to put tags on each one. Frankly, as I wrote back, I'm not certain I could accurately do that; One man's gay is another man's bisexual. I'm clear about science fiction but as to the rest, really, I would prefer that the people who run the place make that decision as they know what tag rings what bells with the reader far more accurately than do I. Frankly, it wasn't a shining moment for either of us and I have since written to explain further the problems I have with about this. The main one being if he says he's an editor then I understand that purpose; It's to take submitted material and make it better not to carp about paragraphs, that's part of the edititng process. It's up to him, if he wants me to continue then, fine, today I sent him two unfinished stories, written yesterday, but with no further word, I'm sure this will be chalked up to an exhalted ego that got squashed and, that may be a minute part, but the over riding problem was that I got harangued for something I thought we were encouraged to do; Write and submit. Gentleman, it was a great pleasure to write them and one hopes a few of you may find pleasure in reading them.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a communique to me from the new editor. As you will see, he asks that I send any submissions to a certain address which is precisely what I did. Full disclosurer; This was attached to a rejected piece which contained sexualized death and was inappropriate to the site.

You were able to get the story to me, so you don not need to PM me with it. Send any future stories to eafictionarchive@gmail.com and I WILL get them. However I still retain the right to reject any story that does not meet standards, or are too extreme.

This is such a strange site when it comes to stories sometimes. Over the years I've seen requests for authors to submit more stories, I've seen the moderators complain about authors not following the rules. There are pleadings to the readers to offer reviews (something that is hard to come by on most story sites, at least the ones for TG related materials). I've seen readers complain about stories, despite that fact that they are FREE...

I'm not taking sides on any issue, however I will always defer to the folks who run the site whether I agree with something or not be it stories or message forums.

Just that its very very strange...

If you send me one of your stories, I might be able to help you fix it so that it will be acceptable to the EA.

You should never send an editor an unfinished story if he or she hasn't asked.

Also you should never ask if an editor wants to see an unfinished story unless the editor asks first.

Those are two rules without exception.

I more than understand this from an editor's POV.

So do I. I sent two incomplete ones to point out that my only motive in writing these stories was for this specific site. They are appropriate to no other place. I doubt if he reads them, for all I care, he can print them and make confetti with them.

As I've thought this through I think what concerns me most is that we're encouraged to write and submit and then, when it's not the idiom of perfection, it's tossed back as too much trouble. Or, in his words, "so sad, too bad". And, yes, it is for the site as this could cloture some who had thought to write and now find there's more to it than writing a good story and sending it in. I've been writing professionally for 55 years so rejection is a frequent occurence. Indeed I keep a book in which I paint the more bizarre or amusing ones. May publish that some day. PJ

Knock it the fuck off. You're offended so you offend back. Enough.

Oh, my.

I think my point has been made as to the why I won't be informing authors of why their story wasn't published.

Need I expand any further?

Please, dear authors, follow the guidelines. It will be very much appreciated.

Happy Reading!

Hey, uh, I hate to be an ungrateful author especially after that unpleasant exchange, but I can't find my newest story ("The Vow") anywhere on the story site. It's linked from this thread, but I don't see it in any of the indexes.

My apologies.
